Btw anyone recommend a cheap Oil cap wrench? Believe we need a 74mm correct? Or do i have to order the actual part number 000 721 920 40?
I hear some people putting 5W-40 in their turbo. Not sure i'm ok with that, anyone else try?

Got an oil cap wrench at my local auto parts store years ago. Works great on all of my water-cooled German cars over the years.
5W-40 is fine. The M1 5W-40 TDT has a little extra ZDDP which is good for the Mezger. I ran that in my turbo and now run it in the GT3.

Might add two things:
-1. If you use a bucket in which you can measure the oil that comes out, you known how much oil you have to put back in.
-2. In the video, the mechanic puts in a new dry oil filter. We always fill the new oilfilter with as much oil as possible. So we put in a wet oil filter.

Hard to add much value here on top of the great DIY guides.
First oil change was a fun experience. No amount of warning can prepare a virgin for the gush.
I used a paint can opener to get the o-ring off the filter cap. Worked very well and seemed to be better than using a screw driver.

To prevent the major deluge of oil draining, I used a really wide mouth funnel from Walmart and I used a coffee can with both ends cut off with 1inch dia punch out holes at one end of the can. About six holes, put can in drain pan and funnel in the top of the can it acts like a manifold.
Worked great!

btw did an oil change last night, probably the easiest car I've ever changed oil on. However it did get messy with two oil plugs to drain. The video above is spot on.
My question is that I thought the car took 8 quarts of oil. Mine reads that i'm low and need a 9th quart of oil, but I don't want to overfill. Online I read the spec is 10.5 quarts, the video stated 8 quarts, and the link above doesn't list any quarts. I know I need to check the book, however wanted to ask the forum what everyone generally used for the oil change.
Again, I can't imagine paying $300 to have someone do this. Cost me $150: oil, 27mm wrench, oil filter, and oil cap opener. Next time just the filter and oil

I did the same thing where I put in 8 and it showed that I wasn't full. I added in another .5/.75 bottle and it was good.
