Max power gain exhaust 997.2
What is the best power gain solution for 997.2 turbo on stock turbos, ecu soft upgrade.
1 just straight pipes (decat, no muffler)
2 strait pipes but sport 200 or 100 cell cats
3 sport cats and aftermarket muffler(what brand?)
Thanks in advance

That car had a muffler bypass but stock cats. That way doesnt sound terrible on the .2, but if you eliminate the cats it doesnt sound good.
If you eliminate only the mufflers you dont have full potential for power gains. You will need high flow cats or test pipes to get more power.

I realize your asking which aftermarket muffler would produce most HP gain, but my take is that none of them results in anything significant or noticeable.
On my 2012 TTS, I have a Fabspeed package that consists of headers, cats and muffler, but no ECU change. Estimated HP gain is 20, TQ gain is 40 ft/lbs. My take is that even this is insignificant and unnoticeable in a car with 530HP that does 0-60 in 2.7-2.9 seconds. Add the ECU mod and HP is estimated by Fabspeed to bounce up another 80. But even that will have minimal effect on 0-60 times because the added HP-TQ come at higher rpms. At higher speeds those effects do become more noticeable but most of us fall short of exceptionally high speeds in spirited road driving, let alone on most short tracks.

I was thinking of going straight pipes with no cat. Does a TT really sound that bad with no exhaust? I'm not just interested in the additional HP, but the 40-50 pound of less weight in the back end of the car.

TT sounds awesome with just cats and no muffler. My new exhaust system really sounds great and the additional power is really noticeable is the upper rpm range.
