What if you find a car with a clean carfax but let's say the owner decided to pain the bumper because it had too many scratches? That will make the car lose value? And why?
Any respray can raise the question of an accident repair even with a clean carfax, not all accidents make it to carfax. I think that's the issue and subsequent loss of value.

True... But you will know if it was an accident or just a touch up...

Think it was clean title and also heavily modded. The seller kept calling my BIL until he hit 65. I thought he saved 10 grand or more. About 40k miles if I recall.

No bad! That was a good catch, I'm sure the seller needed the money...
My car was CPO, 49,000 miles in good conditions and I was ready to sell it for $61,000 but then I decide just to trade it for another car....
$61,000 was a cheap price for my car... Normally a CPO (18 months) will go for $65-68 but I wanted to get the other car really bad so I was ready to let it go for cheap
