Default Attempting a "Goodwill" repair

I took my car for an oill change and one of my front axle boots is leaking. Also a couple of weeks ago the cable in my drivers side door release (inside) broke. This is a common failure in all 997's. My indie has kits in stock and does this repair pretty frequently. Porsche has a kit for the door with improved parts.

This doesn't happen on low mileage cars..

My indie suggested I take my car to the dealer (which I have a good relationship with) and ask for a goodwill repair.

I went by there yesterday and my friend in service said "I can ask!" I said "good enough for me!"

We'll see what they say! I take the car in on Tuesday..

I guess the worst that can happen is that they say "NO".

Worth a try right?

Porsche said no but my buddy in service offered me a great price to do the repairs. Even my indie can't beat it.
