Default AMGfan 2008 997tt Cabriolet Frankenstein Build

I started this build Aug 2012 and we are about 3/4's of the way there...as usual C2Design is the design/tuner/speed shop. It still needs to go to body and paint and the interior upholstery is being worked on currently.

After all this is done...probably in another 6 weeks...I'll drive it for a couple of months then it'll go to Switzer Performance Innovation (Ohio)...same folks who built out my GT-R to 1600hp for some serious hp/tq mojo. Maybe not 1600hp but north of 1000hp...with a fortified transmission and faster Tip.

Purists already hate the 997tt cab so I don't expect purists to go for what I'm doing here...an aesthetic amalgamation of the 997 Turbo, 997 Turbo S, 997 GT2RS, and 997 GT3/RS...

PICKUP DAY...first place it went was for paint correction prior to Xpel Ultimate film application of whole car.

AFTER XPEL ULTIMATE APPLCATION...

FIRST BULL SESSION WITH C2DESIGN...DISCUSSION ON INTERIOR MAINLY WITH RE: TO UPHOLSTERY AND CARBON FIBER CONVERSION OF INTERIOR PARTS . THE 993TT IN THE FOREGROUND IS MINE. IT IS DONE NOW...

AFTER THIS INITIAL MEETING I DROVE IT PRETTY MUCH STOCK FOR SEVERAL MONTHS UNTIL THE 993TT GOT FINISHED...ONLY CHANGE WAS THE ADDITION OF THE BBS E88'S AND NEW REAR WING/FRONT SPOILER...I ACTUALLY PUT ON SOME RENNEN WHEELS BEFORE THE BBS. AFTER THE E88'S WERE PUT ON THEY WERE A DISTANT MEMORY AND COLLECTING DUST IN MY STORAGE UNIT.

LATER RENNENS...HELLO BBS E88'S

MORE SEMI STOCK LOOK...

SWITCH OUT DAY...

PARTS, PARTS, AND PARTS...
CARBON FIBER EXHAUST BEZEL FOR GT2RS REAR BUMPER...THIS IS WHAT IT LOOKED LIKE AFTER WE HAD IT REDONE IN CF, POLISHED, AND RE-CLEARED. ITS AN EBAY PART AND IT LOOKED THE PART...THE CARBON WEAVE LOOKED LIKE IT WAS DRAWN ON WITH MARKER AND WAS SITTING OUT IN THE SUN FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS.

BEFORE:

AFTER:

CUSTOM CENTER BBS CENTER CAP...BBS E88'S DON'T COME WITH A CENTER CAP

WE WERE GOING TO ORDER IT BUT INSTEAD WE ARE TAKING THE SIDE MIRROR APART AND WE ARE GETTING JUST THE BOTTOM PORTION REDONE IN CARBON WEAVE PATTERN WE LIKE...

LED TAILLIGHTS...ALREADY TEST FITTED DURING REAR BUMPER FITMENT.

GT2RS REAR BUMPER...FROM WICKED...OK FITMENT...STILL NEEDS SOME CONTOURING TO MAKE IT LOOK PROPER. WE HAVE THE BUMPER WITHOUT THE BUMPERETTES.

GT3 CF SEATS...BUT REDONE RED UPHOLSTERY (LATER PICS)

Thanks..tcs...labor of love on all the builds we do. We are on our 8th build as a team (C2Design owner and crew and myself) and it gets more detailed on every build. Its fun since we are doing 4 active builds concurrently (997tt cab, 993 Speedster, SL65 wide body, and AMG "Baby Hammer" wide body)...but I talk and email Chris@C2Design (owner) as much as I talk to my wife...probably more...

@ Ilko...I'll have to message ACG to get offsets. Once I get them I'll PM you.

@ Igooz...thx...the finished product should come together pretty well. Our goal is to present a well thought out and coherent build. We thrive on details that only folks who love Porsches can figure out and appreciate...folks may not agree with it but they can respect the hard work behind it to get it right.

AMGfan, is there a reason why you didn't just use OEM sheet metal/body parts? You probably would have saved thousands on fitting time.

For the rear bumper, Chris and I ask ourselves that a lot.

I think initially I fell in love with that rear bumper off a Google image and found the kit and basically clicked the buy button within a matter of 10 minutes of seeing the picture. So that was my bad and not Chris...

- We wanted .2 LED taillights but that could have been done with the OEM GT2RS bumper...
- We wanted a filled in license plate section but that could have been done on an OEM GT2RS bumper(they're sometimes uncut when you buy them)
- We wanted CF only on the bottom portion of the bumper which would have been a very difficult proposition

In a round about way we got to where we wanted...but given 20/20 vision I probably would have done it OEM. But given the mastery of the body/paint shop we use...it'll look proper...

They haven't failed us in any of the builds we have done (E55/SL65/GTR/and 993tt) so far...

PS The bumper isn't sheetmetal though...

Watch out the gap between the top of the bumper and the trunk.
It seems like there's more gap right below where it says Turbo and it narrows down towards the edges

I know it's a test fitment but I am just say'in, watch out
