This month's Car mag says 991 turbo coming in late autumn '13 with new 4-wheel steering and swifter acting AWD. They say turbo 'S' has 550 bhp, which I guess means turbo with manual-trans should be around 520-525 bhp. Anyone hear anything different? Hopefully Porsche will put the 'S' sport exhaust on the non 'S.'

I'm not at all tempted! The 997 is a great car and I just do not care for the 991 styling. I see them on the roads and cringe.

Four wheel sterring? Wait'll those go out. Sheesh!! Why do we need four wheel steering? Three turbos? What's next? Four?

Come on Lewis.. They have to make it better and faster or they will be left behind. Look at the 997 compared to the 993.. VTG turbos? what? It's all accepted now.. Acura has had 4 wheel steering for quite some time. It's not a new technology

Think 991 GT3 has rear wheel steering surely, so assume it will appear on the 991.3T if that's what we should call it!

Much like 993's I believe the 997's will be preferred by drivers to the new 991 cars. The 991 is great car, it just no longer feels/drives like 911.

Normal evolutionary process. From what I've heard a manual transmission will not be offered. And I'm curious about the price tag. The rumors are that the base will be in the $150-160K range... Makes a 6-speed 997TT a real bargain!

Even the hard core GT3RS does no longer offer a manual in the 991 line up, so I doubt that the new Turbo will have it.

Bingo, that's why the 6mt mez gt1 997.1tt will go down as a very desirable turbo. The last of its kind.

Not so fast gentlemen.

Porsche has NOT said that the GT3 will be PDK only. The car they released to the press was a PDK with no mention of a manual.. But they didn't say there would be NO manual.

All your hearing is rumors with no facts behind them.

We have two on order (GT3's) and the dealers have NOT been told that they are PDK only. There has been no news of the RS. That will come almost a year later.

I believe the 991 base turbo will offer a manual as well. The "S" will be PDK. But i think it will be that last generation that does offer a manual.

Time will tell if you have to accept the paddles..

IMHO I believe that manufacturers are chasing the boomers still. Which makes absolute sense unfortunantly. Sports cars are getting softer, bigger and more luxurious. It's what they need to do until boomers are out of the market. Hence the Panamara and Tourag(cayanne). Remember the 90's when convertibles were non existant? Sedans and Minivans proliferated the streets. Interestingly what will the 911 look like when boomers are gone? Electric, playstation standard or maybe an option. Will it look like a Iphone24?
