Default New User and Recent 997.2 TT Cabriolet Owner

I was a 997 2CS owner for 6 wonderful years and I recently traded that vehicle for a 2009 TT cabriolet (GT Silver/Sea Blue). I wasn't really in the market for this transaction, but everything lined up. Having said that, I wanted the last model year for the 3.6L engine, and I was smitten by this power plant mated to a 6 speed manual transmission from the first start up.

The car has the phone handset holder, and the first order of business is to remove this thing. I have the replacement leather piece on order for delivery in February. My understanding is there are three torque screws and three clips between me and a perfect interior. The blue canvas top has some wear spots, which I was told by the dealer are normal. Anyone have success in having Porsche replace the top due to such wear?

Wow! Congratulations and welcome. This sounds like a BEAUTIFUL car. Great choice. You and I have a similar history. I had an 06 C2S Arctic Sliver over Sea Blue and I loved it. I upgraded to my 08 Turbo cab this last year.

I can't help you with the panel replacement but I've seen threads on that and it's pretty simple. The cab tops do wear. I've come to live with it and have it down EVERY chance I can.

There's a membership requirement to this forum and that is you have to post pics. So... Pony up my friend!

First congrats !! Pics or it didn't happen lol

Regarding your blue top, they all do that. You can try to get it replaced but it is inherent with that color. At least that is the experience I have. A friend had the same problem on his brand new Audi. They replaced it under warranty and a few weeks later the new top looked exactly the same. He went back but got told it is inevitable with blue.

My '87 Silver cab had a blue top.
Held up ok for 10 years, but I kept it down most of the time. (CA resident then)

Sounds like I better up my game by picking up a full membership!

Thanks for verifying the dealer's comment regarding the canvas top. I'll try using RaggTopp cleaner and protectant too. I have a neighbor who does upholstery work, and he may have some ideas I can share.

I've been researching the steering wheel options available on this site and I'll be stopping by DCT Motor Sports in Mountain View, CA, to review their services. Our home is about 20 miles away. I'm considering a sea blue sport steering wheel with flat bottom conversion with perforated leather on sides and smooth leather top and bottom.

Default First wax

Over the last two days I've been cleaning up the new ride. Yesterday was the interior, and with a mild December day in the SF Bay Area, today was the exterior.

The finished product looks great to my eye!

Congrats! Love my 09 TT!

FWIW, I had an 01 Boxster S, and they were replacing soft tops due to scuffing under warranty for a time. They stopped that, but my very friendly dealer managed to get a replacement for me under warranty. You may have to push it, but maybe you'll get lucky.

Beautiful! Would love to see interior pics as well. Enjoy. The weather's turned cold up here so mine's in the kennel for the time being.

No worries Zeus, I'll post some interior pictures at a later time. Here's another exterior shot from my travels today.

Here you go... Using a flash really makes the interior a lighter color blue

PS: The temperature here in the SF Bay Area was in the low 40's in the morning, but the bright sunshine and seat heater convinced me to drive into work with the top down
