Default Oil leak found on PPI pic...

I wonder if I could get some input... It look like oil. Is this a normal place for a leak to spring up? What part is this? Thanks all!

Its right up under the rear bumper...I took these pics with my phone just laying near the back of the car. 07 997 Turbo btw..

Hmmm... I have no idea. There's a bunch of guys that should show up, Macster etc..., that have a ton of experience and help.

Looks easy enough to fix and probably not a deal breaker.

Interested...

I would bet that it is your power steering reservoir leaking pentosin. Check the hoses that plug into the reservoir. If they leak, even a little bit to the point that its hard to tell visually, then pentosin will slowly flow down the back of the reservoir and over the engine chainhousing and evertually drip down onto the rubber seal you see in your picture. If it is pentosin, it will be an oily substance and everntually the rubber seal will swell up a bit as due to the pentosin breaking it down. Press on the rubber seal to see if it is getting a bit mushy/squishy. I had the same thing happen to me and this is what it looked like. I could not isolate the leak until I wedged some paper towels around the PS reservoir and tracked it to a small leak at the reservoir/return hose junction..

No, that part has coolant running through it. The chain housings are directly above it which could leak but highly unlikely. My bet is PS reservoir leak..

Looks power steering to me, as mentioned. This often means the clutch accum/ slave are gone too, they are linked.
