PCCB Brake Compatibility dilemma

Would like to upgrade the steel brakes on my 997.1 Turbo to PCCB's from a 997.2 GT3RS.

My car AWD & has different wheel carriers (uprights) than the GT3RS rear wheel drive car.

Called Sunscoast & Pelican, both uncertain if brake systems cross-compatible

+++ searching on net & so far no luck.

Any expertise on this greatly appreciated.

Bolt mount spacing issue figured out & next the RS rotors

I found this on 6speed & my car has the 142mm bolt spacing, gt3rs has the 225mm bolt spacing. It looks like I could get the 225 adapter for my 08 Turbo with the 142 spacing??


"Q: Are 997 GT3 cup calipers compatible with 996 turbo uprights? These are normally paired with 380mm rotors. Do they work with the 350mm 997tt rotors?

A: They are not directly compatible. The 996tt uprights are a 142mm bolt spacing (as are the 997TT and GT3 iron-disc cars). The 997 GT3 cup calipers are 225mm spacing. This is true of the following:

997TT PCCB
997GT3 and RS PCCB
997GT3 Cup
997GT2 and RS PCCB

The calipers from these cars with 225mm mount spacing are only for use with 380mm discs. On both GT3 variants using these calipers, there are specific uprights used that have been built to directly mount them. However, on the 997TT, there are adapter brackets to bolt them to the standard 142mm spacing uprights. Another interesting bit is that the calipers on both GT3 versions have smaller piston sizes than the 997TT PCCB calipers* to provide a firmer pedal and also serve to shift the brake balance slightly rearward.

You can use the adapter bracket from the 997TT PCCB to mount them on the car (=996 turbo), but there is no factory Porsche disc option that will work with that other than the 997TT PCCB disc. The GT3 Cup disc offset is not correct. To use the GT3 Cup disc, you would need a custom adapter bracket.

Brembo has a 2-piece floating iron-disc replacement for the 997TT PCCB disc that has the correct dimensions, however. The part number for this is 102.9008A

All above I picked from another discussion about different brakes' interchangeability. BTW, part number for that adapter bracket is 997 351 505 02 ( x2 ). Needs also 4x M12x1.5 bolts, 999 073 313 09.

Once again one thing about turbo's (either 996's 330 mm or 997's 350 mm) brake discs with 996 GT2/3 wheel carriers. Fully compatible with 1.5 mm spacer between the wheel hub and brake disc. That's how I run them...
Calipers are the same than GT2/3's...colour may be different.

Also Cayenne turbo's 350 mm disc is a bolt-on without any spacer. Very affordable, not drilled but slotted ( aftermarket ones, OEMs are smooth), slightly heavier.

Fairly certain, I'm not the only guy to change brakes to something different on a 997.1 Turbo, so I'm a bit perplexed as to why I haven't found the answer for this by scouring the forums 6speed, porscheplanet, etc

Talked with "Gold Meister Technician" from Porsche dealership, & they're not sure this will work, i.e. he's doing some checking/researching on this as well. Any input from enthusiasts who have upgraded brakes on their Turbo 997.1

I know of an adapter to mount the GT3/RS brakes on the steering knuckles of my Turbo. The spacing mounts on the steering knuckles for these cars are different, the GT3RS being 230mm spacing & the Turbo is 142mm, so the adapter is required.

MY BIG CONCERN is whether or not the GT3RS ceramic rotors which are 380mm diameter will fit on the Turbo okay (TT's rotor diameter is 350mm)

The offset is ~ < 2mm different so a spacer will likely be required at the minimum.

I haven't found anyone who has done this conversion, with pics to show!

The OEM mount adapter is for the 997TT with the 142mm mount spacing uprights, but was it designed for the purpose of upgrading 997TT red brakes afterward to 997 yellow brakes specific for the Turbo??? The rotor part #'s are different, so I could mount callipers to fit the GT3RS yellow rotors & not be able to get proper fit with the GT3RS rotors.

The GT3RS yellow brake system is significantly lighter in weight & there's a few for sale out there.
Any expert opinions greatly appreciated!

Attaching that adapter to a 142mm Turbo upright will allow me to bolt on the 225 mount space GT3RS yellow calliper. But uprights on these cars are different & might not work for these GT3RS rotors

I'll go to a local tuning shop & ask. Already asked GMG & they didn't know if it would work??

I don't consider PCCB an upgrade... More expensive yes buy a lot but no more brake performance.

I have a 997.1 C2S with PCCB and I want to convert to steel.

Am I right in thinking 997 turbo rotors front and rear are a direct easy fit?

So would front PCCB from a 997.1 GT3 fit a 997.1 TT with PCCB?
