Default MISSION: 997.1 Turbo - Target Acquired

Hey gents,
It's been a long while since I chimed in here. Since 2005 or so...

Well, I break the silence because this Saturday, I will be taking a quick flight from NY to Atlanta to pick a 2007 GT Silver 997 Turbo which was originally built by a fellow member here. I am trading in my 2011 Z06, which gets shipped tomorrow. Car has a few tasteful mods I would have done myself, and will help ease me into the build I've been dreaming of.

NOTE: I am having a tough time containing my excitement and figured this was a perfect venue where I wouldn't create mass jealousy and be labeled an @sshole right out of the gate!

Cheers,

Greg

Well she has magnesium champion wheels, evo ms headers, high flow cats and fabspeed exhaust. Since the car was CPOed they removed the GIAC flash.

I think first is get the car up to snuff, vis as vis tires, brakes. Then, probably do the stage 3 clutch, and work towards the EVT 750 and maybe track down Todd Knighton for a custom tune for pump, pump meth and E85 Meth. Something like that.
And of course some PSS10s and an alignment with GT3 specs.

Sounds awesome... Please post pictures when you get it! The way these cars run on methanol is simply amazing.. I would be excited too!

May I ask what you paid for it and how many miles were on it?

Thanks guys
Final number were 84,900 with 18k miles. I was willing to pay a few grand extra for the CPO and a special car. The last car I almost bought had paint work on the entire passenger side and was still 80k!

Considering all the mods and the CPO that is a fair price...Please post some pictures! So much for your CPO when you fo the mods you have planned! Porsche doesn't take to well to Methanol spray set ups....

See how things go. I don't think a tune will prevent them from fixing interior bits and what not. There is no way in hell I'm owning one of the last great Porsche turbo motors and not extracting its potential.
This is a toy. If it breaks, it sits till I fix it.

Congrats and welcome back. I am a former C6Z06 owner myself and just recently picked up a GT Silver 997 Turbo as well. Just had Softronic tune done. I have already put more miles on this car in 75 days than I did in the Z06 in five months. I can't stay out of the damn thing.

Thanks man! GT Silver is fastest! I'll probably have way more seat time in mine just because of the all wheel drive and North East weather!

Completely agree.. I have had around $12k in warranty work done.. most of it interiorCF pieces and a PCM. Some dealers are l a lot more "mod friendly" than others when it comes to warranty work. Mine is awful...

I have a friend who has all of the mods you want to do on his 07 TT. I you want to talk methanol he is your man.. He actually engineered and made his own Y pipe and 70 mm exhaust. His car is the fastest Turbo I have ever been in. Almost zero lag..

Always willing to talk shop! I have meth injection in my 135i daily driver, and swear by it. It makes a massive difference.
