scratch in the plastic bumper
I stupidly closed the garage door without the car being all the way out and have a big *** scratch in the front bumper/plastic thingy. I have a GT Silver car so it does not stand out, but how does one fix such things?

I thought garage door openers have a lock-out feature that prevents closing if the car is sticking out. I'll have to check mine (carefully) to make sure it works. I'm assuming you don't have a manual opener. With re to fixing the scratch, when you say "big" do you meant long or deep or both. If it's not too deep a good detail shop might be able to take it out.

I have had some success using McGuiar's Scratch-X.
It was a light scratch - too close to the toll booth - on a black Lincoln Town Car rental. I filled in with a little black shoe polish first.
Tried some later on my 997TT. Light scratch, not deep. Was OK, but not perfect.
YMMV

A few other tricks....go with the least abrasive material first (hand glaze). Try 3M Scratch remover for light finishes. Then if no luck, go to machine glaze/rubbing compounds, but if you do not have experience with abrasives, get a pro involved.
Sometimes you can wetsand at 1500 or 2000 grit, then 3000, then polishing compound, then wax. I've done this many times on kids cars with small chips.
