Advice- buy 997.1 TT, 997.2 TT or wait for 997?
I know this is an endless retread but here goes:
Looking at my new car options now that the RS60 Spyder is gone.
Found a 2007 911 TT, 6-speed, meteor, no chrono (can add later I know) with a GMG exhaust and chip for $78k. Drives well, a bit loud, but I think the boost also picks up quicker. 24k miles.
Second car is 2008 TT, GT silver, 34k miles (am worried about the higher mileage for resale) all the options, CPO'd also for $90k.
Or
2010 911 TT with PDK for $130k.
I'm an adult, I've gone through built MR2 turbos, S2000 AP1 (w/o stability), Mazda RX-7 and now an E55 as my daily.
So is it worth the delta of 40k to get the latest TT as the 997 won't be out for a while or go for the older one?
Also would you consider GMG exhaust and chip (done by RUF Dallas) to be offputting at resale time?

I would say it depends on mods. From what I have read the PDK does not hold up to higher HP mods.
I just bought a 997.1TT GT Silver with adap seats and 14k on the clock, CPO and no chron for $78k. It was a steal.

I wouldn't be adding any mods myself. The GMG exhaust was great however. $78k for a GT silver is a steal.
The GT silver I'm looking at is about $89k with 35k miles which I think is a bit much for the price? Anyone have experience selling a higher mileage turbo back?

The Boxster was over its miles on the lease, it'd been hit 3 times, it'd been driven hard and they wanted way too much for it based on the residual. The RS60 was however a great, proper sports car.

I just bought a 07 Turbo less than 10K crono, adaptive and cpo for 85. I dont see a reason to do a newer pdk car. I bought a GT3RS to go with it instead.

2007 for $76k
2008 for $86k
I had the same question like you have, wait for something with pdk or buy older with flash mods etc. now and drive awhile and get something newer later on.
The silver was $85k last July and is still on the lot at $76k so mid 30k miles in this area they are not moving.

I'm vacillating on the decision.
I think I need the CPO to feel safe (literally just got dinged $500 for a sensor on my E55)
But high miles are an issue, assuming I keep it for 2 years to see what the 997 turbo looks like I'm then trying to sale a 2008 with say 50k miles- no fun.
The 997.2 Turbo is more of an issue. It's higher up on the depriciation curve, but it doesn have PDK (which I'm on the fence about but I think it'll be easier to move at resale vs a manual) but it's 40k more. Of course I could just keep the 997.2 Turbo forever as it's unlikely the next turbo can trump it performance-wise in real world driving.
But- the Metzger engine and 2008 911 turbo may be a great time to lock up on of these contemporary classics and just keep forever.
I know don't think about resale and such, but it does make a difference.

I just bought one this weekend for basically the exact same deal, highly optioned car, PCCBs, 13k miles with CPO for $85k.

The dfi engines in the turbos have proven to be quite reliable. So if the "ooohhhh last of the mezger" stuff doesn't mean much to you, then try to get the newer car if you can afford it.
You seem to be very concerned with resale. all of these cars will lose value...quickly, so pick the one you like to drive the best and worry about resale when its time to sell.

RS was a nice car - nicer howel in the exhaust than the turbo - looking to resolve that one.
anyway, i committed to a cab & was going to wait for the 991 next summer but to be honest i am not enamoured with the interior of the 991 based on what i have seen. i like the current style - harkens back to the original look and i like the personalization available with centre console and so many other parts. the options to tweak the interior of the 991 are some what minimal based on the Porsche site. i also really think this 997.2 is really a beautiful interpratation of the 911 look.
