The stock rubber for the 997tt potentially rubs, and there are some concerns that it may fry the diff if the front/rear diameters are off by too much. There is a detailed (and admittedly confusing) thread on 6speed about this. Moreover, the guys at sharkworks and UMW said I need to swith the tires to protect the diff. I may need to add 5mm spacers for looks. It is not clear to me if spacers are necessary. Advice?
If you look on tirerack, the tires they suggest for the 997 and 996 are different for he same HRE 19inch wheels to maintain the correct total diameter ratio. If someone can do the math and tell me how to use stock 997tt rear or front tires on my 996tt to maintain the correct ratio, I am all ears.
not as simple as I thought

Did you ever find anything on this? I got a set of 997.1 tt wheels with new stock rubber. I will probably get rid of the tires and get new ones. According to my research the sizes to get are 225/35/19 for the front and 315/25-19 for the rear. you can also use the stock front tires (for the 997tt) as they are within specs.
