Default SIM Slot

What is the deal with the SIM slot I see in pictures of the new NAV units? Can you stick a phone SIM in there or is it for an MP3 memory card (like the Audi's have)?

If you don't have the phone option installed, the SIM slot is just for looks (haha).

Euro market only. We get bluetooth here. You could get the phone module as an option in Pre-08 PCM's, that would alow you to use the SIM slot. Guess Porsche cut some costs by not making a face plate for the North American market.

Actually, there are far more European cellphone SIM card users than there are here in the US, hence the option being RoW rather than US.
No other reason than that.

Yes, GSM as well.
SIM and GSM is a very small portion of the US market, hence no PCM SIM card slots.
