i wouldn't have given the keys to a kid. the kid started the car in gear-why allow him to start it? letting him have the keys is looking for trouble. i own an airplane-i wouldn't have given the keys of that to my daughter any quicker to my plane than to my turbo.

Good to know it can squeeze out of a garage door pretty clean though...if I ever need to escape fast and the power is out.

That brings back memories! My best friend did that with his Dad's Targa in the early 80's. Fortunately, it only put a 12" deep hole in the drywall of the rear of the garage.

Such serious events require a change in parenting strategy.
Do some serious intense prolonged research. Take your time to find out the kid's TRUE make up.
If the kid is GENUINELY a good kid, give him a good beating.
