997 Turbo Cab vs 996 Turbo S Cab
Looking for feedback from owners who went from a 996 Turbo Cab to a 997 Turbo Cab - differences - improvements. And was it worth the cost to trade up, which looks like a $50,000 delta right now.
I have been looking for a 2005 Turbo S Cab and my local dealer offered me a 2009 at a substantial discount - which is tempting.
FYI - I had a 2001 TT (ruf R Turbo mods), then a 996 GT2, then a 997 RS, and now looking to make a change. I had a friends Carerra S Cab for a few days when he needed my truck and my wife and kids really enjoyed the cab. Something more mild then the past cars may get her in the drivers seat more often, which would be nice. I have a dedicated track car, so this would be a street car only.
Thanks in advance.

I had at least 3 996tt cabs and I've daily driven an 08 tt cab for the last 18 months.
The 997 is a significant improvement. Much improved clutch feel and operation, feels smaller and much more tossable. Way more torque down low. The 996 felt heavy and ponderous. Not at all fun to drive.

997 Turbo is better in every way.
(Of course I love my buddy's Turbo S cab, but those are the facts).
The difficult thing to justify is how "inexpensive" 996 Turbo Cabs have become and what their
continued depreciation will look like compared to a 997 Turbo Cab that you would purchase now,
as the 997 is so much more expensive.

Thanks for the input and Woodster you hit the nail on the head as the cost differential is not small. However I had the opportunity to drive the 05 S back to back with a new 09 997 TT cab last night at the dealer, a costly mistake no doubt. I get it - I am now focusing on a 997 TT cab only.

In my opinion, the price difference is justified as the 997 Turbo Cab give the driver much more too. I recently just got the last few batches of the 997 Cab pre-facelifted model.
Enjoy!
