Audi.

We own an A8L after several Benzes, probably never look back again. Fit and finish is stellar, and performance is pucker-factor good.

So, it seems to be coming back to the S8 for me. I drove the MB S550 4-matic today (even the MB sales guy said not to touch the S63 if I want to be able to drive in winter weather). Nice car, beautifully smooth, good power, but emotionally it did nothing at all for me. The S8 feels much lighter & nimbler than its weight would suggest, has great power & brakes, and I've always loved Audi interiors.

If the V10TDI Toureg was available here I'd give it a tryout, but according to VW's website it's not.

I thought about a Cayenne GTS or Turbo, but would really rather have a sedan.

Anybody know a way to import an Audi RS6 Avant over here?

I have no idea why Audi don't do it there, it's so good that the Porsche has hardly been out of the garage since I got the RS6 a month ago! The engine and transmission are insanely smooth and it's so luxurious that instead of taking my Turbo on a pan-Europe road trip next month, I am now planning on taking the RS6 instead. The Turbo is now only used for track days and Porsche Club drives.

Maserati QP with proper winter tires. A good fried of mine has an S63 that he uses every day and he has a winter wheel/tire set. NO problems in the snow. You should be fine without AWD as long as you have the right rubber.

With 3 kids and a baby seat in back you're better off with an SUV instead of a sedan. I have an RWD E Class and with 4 Blizzaks I don't have any problem in ice or snow. Like others have suggested go test a Cayenne S it's a nice machine. The 010 E Class 4 Matic just hit the showrooms this month, go check that out as well. If you don't like the A6 then you should also check out the Q5 and Q7 nice cars with good room in the back. Leave one kid home and get a Panamara...

I agree with Panamera and leaving one kid at home. Or send one kid back to the store.

I did a national search for an 09 S8 when I heard "No S8 foe MY10" and I am glad I did. I have had this car for three months now and I just love this thing. If you can't find one the BMW 750I with X drive will be out in a few months. I drove the new 750I and it was a nice car but it did feel more like an old mans car than my previous 550I sport did. Good luck with your search, just take a day and go drive everything... thats half the fun of looking for a car.

Have you seen the slightly restyled S6 (2009+)? Rear looks better with new taillights. My wife picked up one earlier this year. About 25- 30k less than the S8. She did not like the larger size of the 8's. She absolutely loves it.

535xi Wagon, 6mt, a little motor work. Hauls like an SUV, and drives like a sports sedan. Its no RS6 Avant (drool) but I love it.
