Default DD, what's your avg mph for a tank?

My last 3 tankfuls for the 80% of my driving have been around 30 mph/17 mpg. Our 13 y/o GD says I might as well be driving a Prius.

Thankfully, the other 20% is remote back road twisties.

I know, I could take it to the track, but my wife told me 20 years ago she was happy with any Porsche I wanted, as long as I not track it.

I always heard that around 30 mph overall avg was "normal". My last tank was 36 and that sounds about what I have been doing, obviously normal mixed driving around town.

As far as I can tell, the average speed is the distance travelled divided by the time the engine is on. I haven't watched the numbers for average speed, but I have watched as my gas mileage changes while stopped at a stop light. So even if you drive like a maniac, as long as you stop at stop signs and red lights, you will have a low average speed???
