my question is, since the new version is updated and PDK, body changes, etc, why not call it the 991? What changes other than a body style change will make the 991 in all it's versions different?

I like the new style paddles, I like the center lock wheels (though I guess that pretty much limits any aftermarket choices to none!). As far as the aforementioned electronic gizmos....that's technology at work. There is still the more raw GT3 and GT2 to choose if the Turbo doesn't offer the edginess one needs to feel less "insulated" from driving. I look forward to the test drive reports from the car mags.

that steering wheel really does look like it's straight out of a mustang - remember when Porsche would design something well the first time, and leave it alone for 10 years before changing it? They're now doing what every other carmaker does, which is change the cars every year just for the sake of "newness" but with no real reason to do so.

Don't worry, Porsche kept the oil leaks from the 993 to carry the tradition!

Wet sump?

I watched the whole web special and, fortunately, there is nothing that makes me regret getting my 09. And even more so if the new one is wet sump.

I noticed red line is bumped up 200 rpm, similar to the bump from the M97 to 9A1. Not a smoking gun, but more evidence they left the M64. Still looking for confirmation, can anyone verify the move to 9A1???

Autocar claims the "current twin-turbo 3.6-litre engine has been ditched in favour of a blown version of the direct-injection 3.8-litre flat six from the Carrera S."

Karl.
