look-here is the bottom line-if you want to trade your 07-09 turbo for this new car, you will get murdered financially-that is the story here. wet sump, dry sump.......you are trading in a great car and will get killed on the trade in. now if you don't have a turbo and are thinking about getting a new one, that is a different story. should you get a leftover 09 or a new 2010-who knows. for street use, it is probably your choice. but, if you are trading in the 997 turbo for the new one, then you better bring a ton of money with you.

[QUOTE=02 Carrera;6800654]Web special is a little confusing.
First, the engine is supposed to be a direct version of the new 3.8l Carrera S. This is a major departure as the previous 996 and 997 Turbo used engines based on the GT1 engine. Porsche chose not to use the direct injection engine for the GT3 due to questionable durability with high revs. It will be interesting to see how it works out in the turbo.
Sound like the reason they got away from the GT1 block because it isnt compatable with pdk?
In the link they said:
Of course, we already knew that some of the explanation lies in the fact that PDK has been developed in conjunction with the new direct-injection engine introduced in the 997 model of the Porsche 911, while the GT3 features the motorsports engine derived from the original GT1 and so is incompatible with PDK.
