Default Mesh screen for 997TT

I got tired of having to fish out objects from within the front spoiler area in my 997TT plus a friend recently had his radiator punctured by a solid object of some type. I'd been thinking of getting it done but it was finally time to do it. Larry with his "twin" car also had it done too. We both had a mesh screen made by a local tuner shop and powdercoated black.

What I like about it is that it's not that obvious and would be hard to see when within the car. I considered getting a hexagonal type but in the end opted to go with these instead. I also couldn't find anyone out there that sells these pieces. I found one but it requires removing the plastic vanes and IMHO it didn't look very good.

Can you see it?

Very happy with the end results and would highly recommend anyone looking to protect their radiator to get this mod done. It was relatively cheap.

How do you install them? I assume to take off the front bumper and install from behind? Does anything small enough to get through the mesh ever need to get fished out, from your experiences thus far?

Hi Dan,

Yes, we did have to remove the front bumper to properly fit the mesh screen. So far, it's done a great job keeping the debris out but I've only had them for about 2 weeks so far. I'll let you know if it works for longer trips. I went on a 200 mile trip recently and my spoiler area still remains clear however.

Screens are good but getting bugs off the screens must be a hassle.

I'd rather do that then have to deal with punctured radiators. I've had two other friends with Turbos who has had to replace theirs already! That's why I decided to get the mesh screen.
