great results Toby! Interesting that the exhaust alone(?) would get you to a 7.8 60-130mph. It would seem the expensive factory titanium can is more "hype" that "hope". As RS dyno'd it at 560hp on a 300# lighter 2wd GT2, it would make the 500-510 awhp (580 crank hp) claim of a stage 2 997tt seem plausible, as they can hit 60-130mph in 7.7-7.8s

Hi Gene
Thomas Schnarr owner of CG says the Akropovic the exhaust is actually very good it is the stock cat which is the bottle neck (CG told me the back pressue, think they said 350 mbar ?? does that sound right ?) he further said that the back pressure of the Akropovic with CG 200 cell cats is the same as CG's 997tt sport cat exhaust.....
Apparently they are finding quite a few instances of the Akropovic unit cracking.... this would not be welcome !

Agree with your stage 2 comments, whose 580 package (and what's in it) specifically is this ?

Edit
Just to be clear, the Titanium Akropovic remains untouched, the CG 200 cell cat unit just bolts in place of the stock cat unit see pic:

I see, only the cats change - makes for a more cost effective and logical approach.

The stage 2 was the AWE/GIAC package on the 997tt - ecu flash and turbo-back exhaust. I ran a 7.7s in approx 20C:

As did we.

This was also done on a client car and not a "ringer" shop car.

And all of that development was done on a chassis dyno....

[QUOTE=Mike/A.W.E.;6119665]Yes, but the devil is in the details... [/QUOTA

Do you have any other pictures of your headers installed?

My concern is when the headers are to low the create a undercar air flow problem.

They do hang a bit lower than others but Eclou tested them at ~190mph....... he seemed happy

May I ask what "standard 500 miles" means? Was this during your break in period? 8.3 seconds seems a bit off for the GT2 in 0 degree Celsius weather.

This run was posted on a different forum...granted, slightly greater decline on the road.

"standard 500 miles" means zero modifications and 500 miles from new, no break in required on these motors, that is done on the engine dyno, it is the new owners who "need" the break in

8.3s may seem slow, the gearchange was not the fastest but with the cats and headers the difference immediately afterwards was very noticable particularly the torque from 3000rpm to 5000rpm, this was later confirmed on a Maha dyno 542PS/736NM.........

OT

Toby; first time I've seen a picture of your car, my favorite color and the blacked out wheels look awesome.

OK, hopefully I'm not flogging a dead horse here.

Does anyone know if having ceramic coating on the headers & Cats does any difference?

Should it be in white or black? I see that a lot of old racing cars have them in white & I had a pair of white ceramic coated Cats on my larini set for another car.

We did back to back tests and found no difference on a 997TT with coated headers.
