dk996tt-

You are going to find it difficult to recover any of the modification costs you put into this car. It's not like it has any racing provenance or anything like that. In fact, the cliche is that modifications will reduce the cost, especially if it has been run hard as this car has. Low mileage doesn't mean that much in this context - it's more like logging hours, not miles, on a race engine...

I don't know enough about engine dynamics to comment on the post from Jean and others.

It would be great to see some high resolution pictures - maybe we can 'pass the word' onto others who might buy a highly modified turbo.

Thanks - Gerry

Eclou,

The Gemballa was around 3,400lbs. I have the test, it had a high downforce rear wing. I don't have reliable data from the 9FF (which was tested by AMS BTW, not Sport Auto) but the similar cabrio that did the world speed record weighed >3,500lbs.

Another 9FF 996TT with GT2 bodywork (but 4WD) weighing 3,300lbs and 743 flywheel HP did 0-186 in 20.2seconds, tested by SportAuto.

dk - sorry to hijack your thread somewhat but I thought I would share the graph below as it is good to talk about how these mega hp Porsche turbos actually perform.

In the graph below the red line is a ~780hp 9ff Porsche 997 turbo and the purple line is a 624hp Cargraphic 997 turbo lightened to about 1490kg.

Whilst the 9ff does 0-300 in 23.7s compared to the Cargraphic 0-300 in 28.4s just checkout how long it takes the big turboed 9ff monster to get in its stride - the CG car is faster to 137mph.....

no offense taken. as i mentioned in my earlier post, with a moderate launch where the car went from 0 - 60 mph in 4.99 seconds, but then hit 180 mph in 19.24 seconds in 2994.32 feet. on another run, it hit 190 mph in 22.57 seconds at 3866.12 feet. if you consider that the car has made mutiple 0 - 60 runs in 2.5 seconds, it should give you some indication that it would probably hit 186 mph in the 20 seconds flat range. my car is truly a full weight car. in addition, i have added a roll cage and seat belts. these are the facts. you are entitled to your own opinions. finally, if i did have access to the autobahn, we would have definitely had the programming issue resolved. unfortunately in the USA, WOT in 6th gear is extremely foolish on any public roads. one of the main reasons for attending the Texas mile was to do the high speed testing which we were unable to do until then. Of course it was a disappointment that we were unable to run full boost in 6th gear, which would have undoubtedly resulted in a 200+ mph run in the standing mile, but we learned so much about the car with respect to high speed testing. i would also like to mention that i have a respect for european tuners and take nothing away from them. but at the same time, please give credit where credit is due. Switzer has been working on the Porsche platforms for less than 2 years now. I think what he has achieved in this short period of time is monumental. cheers!

As I understand from a european source, that 9ff monster survived 200km before grenading.

I met him and support what you are syaing. This is strictly a numbers discussion.

So they have improved on reliability!

Just joking, 9FF do have some nice builds. But the numbers are there, 750 FWHP and you get those acceleration numbers. Obviously weight is a factor, but much less important in those high speed runs than power to overcome drag.

Below is the 0-300kph Vbox graph for David's Sledgehammer from the Texas mile.

The launch was very mild putting the 0-100kph time at about 5 seconds, the 100-200kph time was 4.98 seconds, and the 200-300kph time was 11.46 seconds. The total 0-300kph time was just under 21.5 seconds, but considering the car has gone 0-100kph in under 3 seconds (with a harder launch), the car is definitely capable of sub 19.5 second 0-300kph times.

aaron, thanks for verifying my run. considering we have launched the car multiple times from 0 - 60 in the 2.5 second range, i think the car would definitely have a chance of running 0 - 300 kph in under 19 seconds. i think it is conceivable that my car is making around 850 hp, yes??? Plus, my car has lasted for longer than 200 km.
