Just curious: would a stock 997TT (3450lbs) outdo a 996 Ruf R turbo (3350) lbs with a Ruf engine coversion producing 550HP and 575 ft/lbs of torque in a sprint from 0-60, 0-100, 60-100, quarter mile? Has anyone put the two, side-by-side, in say 2nd or 3rd gear and then hit wide-open throttle to see how they pull vs. one another.

Here's what I've calculated, based on averaging figures from several tests on the 997TT, versus very limited information on the Rturbo. For, 0-60, 0-100, 60-100, and 1/4 mile:
996TT (425HP/415TQ, 3395lbs): 4.0;9.4; 5.5; 12.3
996 Ruf R turbo (520HP/546TQ, 3375lbs.): 3.8; 8.1; 4.3; 11.9
997TT manual (473HP/457TQ, 3495lbs): 3.7; 8.6; 4.9; 12.0
997TT Tip (480HP/460TQ; 3584lbs): 3.3; 8.1; 4.7; 11.7
More specifically the 996 Ruf R turbo data is only one ONE test and pertains to a 520HP/546TQ conversion versus 550HP/575TQ conversions that is more frequent, especially on cars in North America now serviced by Ruf Auto center. In contrast, the 996TT, 997TT and 997TT Tiptronic data are based on averages of 4 or more tests. I made use of the summary data in the link below;
http://www.weissach.net/996-997_RoadTestSummary.html
My take on the 996 Ruf R Turbo is that power comes on strongest once the car gets moving, even though most reviewers claim virtually no turbo lag at all. Moreover, side-by-side runs of Ruf cars with competitor cars that have even more torque sometimes show the competitors taking the lead but the Ruf catching up and overtaking as higher speeds are attained. This seems to confirm claims by drivers that the power keeps on coming and doesn't taper off, as on stock turbos.
If anyone has anymore data on the Ruf R turbo conversions, please post. The only other figure I have is from dragtimes.com, showing 11.36 for the quarter mile for a 996 Ruf R tubro, but there's no indication of the HP which, I believe is probably a 590HP conversion.
It will also be interesting to see how a 550HP conversion on a 997TT performs. I saw one being performed on a black 997TT at the Ruf auto center in Dallas a month ago.

we've done alot of 60-130 runs here in Houston of stock 997tt's, modded 997tt's, and 1 Ruf Rturbo (590).
60-130mph
stock 997tt 10-12 sec
Ruf R turbo 590 8 sec
997tt ecu + exhaust + race gas 7.7 sec
997tt VTG turbos + race gas 6.9 sec
