Default 8k miles + >600ftlbs = dead clutch

Well, 2 days until the TX Mile and my clutch is gone. Won't hold the tq anymore at highway speeds in 6th. It is drivable but nothing spirited. AWE is shipping me a Sachs HD clutch

that seems crazy...I had 22k on my 04 turbo cab before the clutch went and it was running close to 550hp

I've been running the GIAC 100 octane program lately which is supposedly 600HP and even more tq. I guess we gotta pay to play

Eclou

I hear you...I finally broke down and will start the mods on my TT Monday. I have a question, if I stay with my stock wheels what are the best street tires. Figure I will do 1 track event a month.

Thanks,

Rich

Rich,

if you want streetable tires to drive to and from the track I would get some of the Pilot Cups or the Pirelli Corsas. The Pirellis are a touch more rain friendly and also have a rim lip protector whereas the Cups don't.

We pay to play don't we.The Sachs clutch line is top notch, you shouldn't have any problems with the HD at your power level.

That's why you didn't show up, sorry to hear about the clutch. mine did the same thing several months ago and slipped in 6th gear a few times, but I learned to baby it and never push it until the car/clutch is really warmed up.
It did not slip during the TX mile and it was a blast by the way.

No I am still on stock clutch, too lazy and no time.
I did better than expected in the mile considering the 92 degree weather. I went a little over 178 mph on my 5th run before I headed back on saturday.
stock z06 and vipers were doing low to mid 160s and stock busas were in the mid to high 170s if I remember correctly.
on my 4th run, I forgot the passenger window open and did not realize until about 140 mph, that run was 174 mph.
I haven't downloaded ny P BOX numbers yet, but it looks like I went over the mile in about 29 seconds or so and I think that's even more impressive than the 178mph.

Changing the clutch is in keeping with what Sportec and Ruf recommend with over 550PS
