Default painted skirts, lower front and rear apron...

It would be great to have the skirts, front and rear apron painted if I go with the Carrara white. Is there any sense to putting protective film over theses areas, or are they destined to get stone chips regardless?

IMO, the protective film shoud help to greatly reduce the stone chips.

I agree, color matched trim pieces look sharp on the 997 tt. My experience says you should cover all rash prone areas right away with your choice of products (lots of threads about types of products), for me the dealer had 3M put on the nose area and I wish I had done more.

Murphy's Law: wherever the film ends on the hood, the first rock chip will land 1" higher.

I actually just spoke to Sammy over at Premier Moble (in N Cal) about this very thing yesturday. My concern was when the car (white) was dirty could u see the line on the hood, answer yes). What I plan on doing is covering from the painted bottom lip all the way up to the end of the hood and up to the front doors. I'm also going to put a lil patch where ya grab the doors. Hopefully this will do the trick. Oh and the warranty is, and I quote, "Lifetime Warranty from bubbling, fading, and cracking – does not cover wear and tear". The fading part means yellowing.

Subbie, which product are you having installed? Also, are you planning on covering any part of the roof?

Here is their web site, the guys at Sharkwerx recommended Premier to me so I do what Alex tells me to I would think the web site talks about what products they use.

I decided to go with "custom" fitted pieces so it was about twice the money as pre-cut. To answer your question, no roof film.

Xpel has a precut kit that will cover the whole front of the car. I plan on mixing and matching a few of their precuts to create my own kit. The guy who I deal with said it can be done. The place he orders his Xpel precuts has several different materials (3M included) depending on customer pref.

Where in NY are you? I'm in central NJ but would travel to find someone reputable for installation.
