Default FVD Stage 2 kit results

Hello Guys,

I purchased Stage 2 kit from FVD Germany for my 997 TT.

We have installed the kit yesterday and made several acceleration tests with it and i think results are quite impressive.

We have measured the times with the PERFORMANCE BOX GPS tool.

Best results so far;

0-60 km/h = 2.1 seconds
0-100 km/h = 3.6 seconds
0-200 km/h = 10.2 seconds

60-130 km/h = 3.0 seconds

0-400 meter = 11.4 seconds @ 207 km/h
0-1000 meter = 20.4 seconds (i think next time will be better, because there was traffic on this run on the highway)

Maximum acceleration G is 1.1 G

What are your opinions ?

Thanks,

Emre

Your 100-200km/h is very fast, are you TIP or Manual?
can you describe the stage 2 mods in details?
Thanks.

I did a 7.3 (100-200) with 200 cell cargraphic exhaust and protomotive ecu, no headers and stock filter, but mine is manual. Someone else on this board had a problem with FVD on a TIP car, but yours is running great. Enjoy.

Those are very strong numbers, even for a tiptronic. Stage 2 is BHP 555, at the limit of those VTG turbos. Do you have stock weight?

Can you please post some charts of the runs, speed vs. time and long Gs?

Congratulations

Jean,

we finally got some numbers for the VTG turbo

K24: ~32 lb/min @ 60% efficiency
Stock VTG: ~34lb/min @ 60% efficiency
Garrett GT28R: ~34lb/min @ 60% efficiency
Garrett GT28RS: ~37lb/min @ 60% efficiency

Thumbs up

Here is an update with the graphs from Performance Box,

First is the 100km-200km graph= 6.55 sec

Second pic is the 60-130mph graph= 7.61 sec

I cant post pictures or links because of minimum post requirment, so you can look at these pictures at Rennteam Forum.

Thanks

I saw your graphs, nice runs. You did your runs without shifting I believe which explains the advantage vs a manual car. Still very strong and consistent with the HP claims for a Tip. Amazing what you can get with decent money on these 997TTs!

Eclou,

Thanks for the data, You must be posting this in reference to our previous discussion.

I don't know your source for the VTG maps since they are not published, but I would not consider 60% efficiency anything I would want my tuner to make claims around. This is exactly what I mean by quick dyno runs showing high peak numbers. A turbo running at these efficiency levels on these cars will not hold the numbers in real life. As a customer I would want my turbos to run comfortable in an efficient 68-70% range to keep turbo heat at acceptable levels. As a customer, I am not interested in peak dyno numbers for bragging rights, I am sure you are the same.

According to my tuner who is just another reference, the KKK24 are good for 28 lbs, and 30lbs when really stretched, that puts them about the 68-70% efficiency, which is where I would want my tuner to claim his numbers.

My two questions would be what boost levels these flow numbers are calculated for the VTG, and what are the numbers at 70% efficiency. My answer is at 1.0 Bar and 68-70% efficiency those numbers are close to 28 lbs. They had no reason to increase compressor sizes, as they targeted 480BHP and 510BHP for only a few seconds.

To talk in practical and simple terms, and if we can for a second disregard how bad European tuners are, none of the respected Euro tuners offers anything beyond 550BHP on these turbos, and that would be a stretch, most of them are between 530-550BHP. Beyond that, they modify the VTG turbos.

Funny enough I have the latest June Excellence in my hands and this is what it says about the latest Techart 997TT. (Their 580BHP won the latest Euro shootout).
"Techart still retains the VTG setup for its 530BHP Stage One setup, but says it found that the KKK/Porsche VTG turbos couldn't flow air to take the engine past 540BHP" For their next stage packages (580BHP) Techart uses conventional KKK turbochargers.

The performance of this FVD package with 555BHP (and FVD is not the most conservative out there) is a good benchmark. A Cargraphic 544 BHP would perform the same.

I calculated 556 BHP using 3700 lbs as the vehicle and driver weight. Very impressive and probably a reliable level of power output. Agreed that tweaking the car to the very limit may be penchant for disaster and beyond the acceptable risks for most of us. It was notable that his run was done without cats - does FVD program out the post-cat O2 sensors or use some kind of plug-in O2 simulator?

They use programing to raise the tollerance on the post cat sensor, no dummy, no turning it off
Evan
PS- Impressive numbers to the orignial poster!!
PPS- Hey Jean Yes that is the limit, FVD switches turbos for their stage 3 kit which is 610BHP

Good observation Eclou regarding the safe levels of tune.

Evan, good to hear from you and thanks for the info

I can confirm that there hasn't been any o2 simulators, just the ECU programming.

Thanks
