Default Anyone lowered a 997 turbo?

I'm taking delivery of a white turbo in June- white, GT3 RS wheels, etc. I had a 996 turbo and had it lowered (row) and it looked much better and did not affect the drive or too much on steep drives. Now with PSM, can it be lowered and still retain the benefit of PSM?

The yellow car looks great, but aside from any technical and potential warranty issues that you may encounter lowering the car, which I am not an expert on, I can tell you that you will most assuredly experience the dreaded scraping when you drive the car around town.

At bone stock height it is unavoidable, lower it and you are borrowing trouble...

I use the TA spring kit. The PASM remains in tact and the ride is lowered about an inch. The system doesn't cause any issues and the ride is still not harsh. People still comment on how well the car rides.

And yes, I do scrap coming into the driveway. Otherwise it is not a problem.

I also am interested in this question - I am looking into getting a 997TT after getting rid of the 996TT and would love to lower it if I get one - the gap between the wheel and the well just looks way too huge to me (just like the 996 did) - I much prefer the look on the GT3 ride height wise - I have heard that the H&R springs may have some noisy ride issues though? anyone have pics with them on? The TA springs seem like they might be a little too low, but hard to say unless you see them in person I guess - also heard that the PSS9 system is not available and I am not sure if or when it will be

The H&Rs do make noise because they are a little smaller profile and unload off the perch when the car lifts.

The TA springs we have sold and installed do not do this and are full size. They lower the car about an inch which is also what the H&Rs lower. I actually think they are a little lower.

The PSS9 system is not out yet. It will be. It is showing up on all my order forms recently.

I am happy with the springs. I don't worry much about the scraping. Such is life

OK - maybe I will have to look into the TA then - the PSS9 is nice but a little pricey and for only moderate track work, likely a little overkill but is nice because it is adjustable

Another option you might consider if you're thinking of lowering the car only for appearance is to have the front air intakes and spoiler, side rocker panels and rear lip painted the exterior color. I've seen a TT with these parts painted and it gives the car a lower and sleaker appearance without the risk of loss of warranty with springs.

I agree, but it still makes a huge difference to lower it an inch. I will try to find the pics to show you. I had all the lower skirts, bumper, front nose painted.

Stephen

what's your experience been with the techart springs? do you have any problems with pasm?

i'm hoping that my gp7 wheels will work with the springs. they have very aggressive offsets at 48mm front and 40mm on 11.5" rears.

Stephen,

I had the H&R lowering springs on my 997S, and I didn't like them because they were not matched well to the dampers. There was too much bouncing and yet felt too soft. What do you think of the Techarts? Are they matched well the the PASM dampers?
