Oohh... pics and videos please!!!

Once your tires are shagged, what kind are you putting on? Not many options given the size...

JV, I just ordered the michelin PS2's 235/35 ZR19 and 315/25 ZR19 rear so they will be stretched slightly to fit the 12.5" rears (12.4" is their reach). they are officially rated to 300km/h but michelin themselves rate them to 340km/h, in my experience short of cup tyres they are the best balance of grip track to road, strong sidewalls, and perform well in the wet also. I'll be happy to get rid of the conti's..

Great looking car!!! I've seen some specs on an RT12 (Ruf USA website) that shows the wheels and tires as - RUF alloy wheels: front 9” x 19” with 255/35 ZR 19 Pirelli tires rear 12.5” x 20” with 345/25 ZR 20 Pirelli tires. Was that an option and you have the standard fitment?

they're that bad huh...

i had a feeling they were slippery, based on the very high treadwear rating. though when i took the RT12 to the 'Ring, it didn't feel too bad. having said that, the track was damp, and i was obviously taking it very very easy...

thanks for the info! looking forward to more pics and vids from your upcoming trip! be safe my friend...

When I was in Pfaffenhausen picking up our car, there were two standard fitments on the RT12: the 325 (R) Conti's and the 355 (R) Pirelli's. There was a very nice grey car there which I believe is now in Florida, and one of the first RT12's built, that came with the Pirelli's. Aside from being wider, they are also noticeably taller than the Continental's, and give the car an every so slightly less aggressive look. Having said that, its a subtle difference to be sure.

After more high speed testing, Ruf have recommended the Conti's, as I believe they are currently the only tire that are manufacturer approved for speeds up to 360kmh (makes sense I suppose, as the RT12 has been factory tested to 363kmh). But this does come I believe, at the expense of some outright grip. The Conti's have a compound designed to cope with the extreme thermal and other stresses that come with prolonged running at the speeds mentioned.

It really only makes sense I think if you live in Germany. Everywhere else, you're not likely to be touching anywhere near those speeds for any length of time (sans events like that Silver State Run, etc).

As I don't live in Germany, the next set of tires on the car are probably going to be Pirelli's or Michelins...

Never liked the Conti in any Porsche I've owned. Give 'em hell I say.

hate the conti's on my TT. Switching to PS2's as well.

Gotta love the burnouts! Drive it like you stole it.
