When I ordered my 2001 996TT, the cars were coming out with either Continental SportContact 2s or the Pirelli PZero.

My car had the Continentals and I stuck with them thru three sets in the 14k miles on the car now. Mine never really showed any significant wear - I would pick up a nail and would just replace them all. Didn't want to think about a patch job on the few, brief moments I get a chance the let the 996TT tag 120 or so on a beautiful wide open, divided six lane road here in San Diego
ps2 on mine.

tell your dealer which tires you want on your 997tt. if it doesn't come with the tires of your choice, they should be able to swap tires from another 997 widebody in stock.

PZero Rosso's on mine.. will probably switch to PS2's (or Sport Cups ) when the time comes

which begs the question: how much more longevity to the PS2's offer over the Sport Cups? I know there are many factors involved, but assuming I do 4-5 track days a year?

Thanks for the tip. I have one on order for early May delivery and I just contacted my dealer today and asked to have it switched if they are not PS2's. He said that shouldn't be a problem and we'll deal with it when it comes in. I hope the 997 widebodys are the same size, they should be? My 997S came with PS2's and I absolutely love them both in wet and dry weather.

Looking at the spec sheet for the 997 TT turbo vs 997 C4S or any other 2007 widebody I see that the Turbo's front tires are a half inch wider so although possible, a switch might not be a wise thing?

Are you sure? I believe that the tires are the same sizes up front throughout the entire 997 line. I thought that it was only the rears that were larger.

nope, the 997 widebody and turbo cars used exactly the same size tires. the c4s rims are 1/2" narrower at 8" according to porsche's website.

Ok, that's a relief. I thought I was going crazy here. Glad to see that I'm not...I knew that the wheel sizes varied but not the tires.

I stand corrected guys, your right, its the front rim size thats different on the turbo by 1/2 inch not tire size. I assumed the tires would also be 1/2 wider but they are the same. Atomic, quick question: If you status on your car is MFGCNF would it be possible to change exterior color? Will talk to my sales rep tommorow about possibly changing Arctic Silver to GT Silver?
