I drive 06 C2S, but my dream would be a Targa venue, especially GT3. While the GT3 drivetrain is unlikely, anyone know if Porsche plans to build a Targa Turbo in the future?

No way we will see a targa tt unless targas' increase in popularity. Targas' are the lowest volume model in porsche's line-up (I think it was about 5%).
That said my favorite 911 ever is the late '80s turbo targa slantnose.
Called me weirdo, but a 997 Turbo Targa seems like a good idea to me, I like the turbo's power and the targa's roof.
BUT!!! somehow I think it 'might' happened, from the roof down, a targa is a 911 convertible....the targa roof is one complete unit....turbo convertible should be coming soon.....targa roof 'should' be able to mate up with the turbo convertible body....add some missing switches and wiring....if Porsche does not make one I think the tuners/enterprising individuals could in theory make one happens.....market demand is another story.....
I seems to recall some years ago someone made a 996 Turbo convertible before the factory makes one so nothing is impossible. $$ cost is another story......
All that glass makes a unique driving experience. A lot like a convert but in a bubble. Very neat stuff. I wonder too but I'll speculate this much;
The Achilles heel of both cars was the top leaking. 996 was better than the 993, but still not perfect. With the kind of torque the 3.6 motor puts out, it can really flex what Whoopsy notes is a Cab body. At very least, it may leak, at worst it might just crack that big glass top.
Thanks to all for your comments and imaginative views. I posed this question to the GT3 board (perhaps a little too courageous), and received three pages of interesting responses. Anyhow, I guess a guy can dream!

I agree. Wish I never sold my Turbo Targa Slantnose. I have a standing order with my dealer for his first Turbo Targa if Porsche decides to build one. One reason Porsche decided to go with the 4 platform was increased rigidity (8%) and hopefully we'll see a Turbo Targa again.

Very brave of you for asking that question over there - As soon as I saw your question I knew you were in trouble LOL
