Default 997TT should be 550HP !!

Hi all ,
i didnt post here from long time but i read from time to time here & at rennteam, just want to get your posts in this subject, im customer for porsche for over past 13yrs, really was happy with all Porsche Turbo models having a modified 996TT & ordered 997tt which i might sell if M5 & M6 keep up with a 997TT , always wondering how the 997TT will set a standard in it class, performance, handling,..etc
i used to have a 928GTS later 911 turbo 3.6 in the 90's to be right since ,94 in that time i used to play with cars like M5, M3, supras, zx's , even ferraries there was no comparison, came the 993TT nice AWD way faster then the 911T while the competitors still way slower then came the 996TT we see now that competitors BMW, AMG, Z06 & other Japenese brands will come up year a new Skyline who never were close or think of challenge Porsche am afraid they will set standard like the Z06 now, why not Porsche since they have better engineering a relaibilty to raise the HP to 550hp instead 480hp when the others went up to 400hp N/A engine with one bottom technology changed to 507hp i think you know which engine am talking about. i really were expect more performance 997TT without waiting for the S models & GT2

Last year for fun I took a Mitsubishi Evo VIII and totally twisted it.

For $75000 I had the fastest car on the street. 3200 lbs, 4 WD and 625 WHP! no joke. Nothing stayed with me from any speed.

I can tell you I wouldn't think of getting back in a car like that any more.

If all you care about is power, you can kicka$$ for much less than a 997TT

The people at Porsche know what they are doing.

Why would they want to give us the entire pie at once? They will serve us our pie one piece at a time....and we will gladly pay 140K for each morsel.

I don't believe that Porsche feels threatened by any of the higher HP cars. Most (not all) Porsche TT enthusiasts want a supercar that is driveable everyday. This eliminates Ferraris and Lambos. Porsche drivers also know quality and that pretty much eliminates the ZO6 from the list. Essentially, Porsche has cornered the market of an everyday supercar. This may change when the GT-R arrives.

Just out of curiosity...have you ever driven a GT-r (previous generation, that is...)?????? I have driven 2 of them while I was in Hong Kong. Quality would not be the first thing that comes to mind...felt like a 300ZX. While I love the z and the GTR....they are fun...but not to the quality standards of a 911.

What 3.8 motor is that

The 997 turbo may "only" have 480 peak hp, but it is faster than all the opposition.

Checkout the link below, vmax in the UK, basically accelerating flat out over about 1.4 miles this is real life performance.
A stock 997tt (on the list it says (Tech 9) hit 189mph - check out what the Murci managed.
The stock 997tt is fast and do you know at 186mph it has 60lb of downforce

the 997Carrera S engine=3.8L ,so they will use it in the future for the Turbo.the 997TT=3.6L.

Not that "simple". These are two very different engines.

The 3.6 motor is a better one than the 3.8 from a number of standpoints.

Besides, .2 L or 13 cu in isn't much anyway.

Porsche could get to 600 hp, if they thought they needed to. As long as people will buy the warmed-over model, we won't get a big step forward. It took the near-deathe experience of 1994 to bring us the 993 and 996. I'm sure all the effort is going into the new 4-door sedan and an updated Cayenne (which I believe comes out this year). AS

Quick Reply: 997TT should be 550HP !!
