Default Getting the Nursery Ready for the New Baby ...

Decided to redo the garage and get it ready for the new arrival. I rented a couple of those storage PODS and stripped the garage clean. I contracted with one of the garage companies to come in and do the whole deal, starting with the floor. Today they clean, filled, sanded and coated the concrete floor. We went with grey cabinets and a grey granite epoxy floor. Tomorrow they will put down 2 coats of clear over the "granite" flakes. On Friday, they will install the cabinets around the perimeter of the garage. I have dreamed of doing this for as long as my deteriorating mind can remember, so I am relishing every moment of the process, only to have the crowning glory arrive being the 997TT!

If I am boasting, I apologize, but I have no one else to share this with and I know many of you can relate to the buzz. So thanks for being there. After all, Rennlist members for the most part share in the same vision - this is our love, our hobby...Porsche.

Here are some photos of the first day in the garage, I'll post more as the project progresses. Feel free to ask any questions. I bid the job out to a few of the better garage companies, and so far these folks have done a nice job...

Maybe a Pool Table, Dart board, Keg-O-Rator, and a Bar. Unless, of course if you don't drink.

We have 9 (6 Old English Mastiffs and 3 Labs) dogs, so I'll probably have some water and food dishes in there.

Great minds indeed! As soon as I saw Mastiff's post I was thinking I should poll the guys on Rennlist to see who can do the best garage re-do. I want to get mine ready for the new car, too but the delivery date has been bumped up a month (that's good) leaving me less time. I'm doing the basement as a DIY job, but I will have pros do the garage. Seasonal cycles here in PA are kinda rough on concrete and the job should be done right.

Anybody in this part of the country have any recommendations for contractors to do this work?

Mastiffdog, I think your garage is going to look really sharp. Looking forward to seeing the pics, esp with that slate car!

Thanks, that's if I ever get the car. Intercity Lines, while I think they are good folks overall and have continually received mostly good press on the forum, has recommited my delivery twice, so I am rather sad right now. Now they are telling me late next week, as my car is being picked up hopefully on Saturday at the dealer. It will take 4-5 days to arrive on the Left Coast.

The irony is that the gargage won't be ready until about then anyway, so be it. They just did the first coat of clear today, and tomorrow is the second coat. Then it will cure until after the 4th. They'll be back a week from tomorrow and finish up the cabinets by the 7th. Between the garage and the car delivery it seems like a week or two may as well be a year. After you reach 50, time seems to fly by quickly, so slowing things down with these exciting events is probably a good change.

I'll continue to provide progress photos as the garage takes shape...thanks again for all the nice comments.

My wife raises Saint Bernards, who have their water bucket in the garage, of course near my cars.
If you've ever seen the movie Beethoven, you can pretty much figure out how much dog drool gets flung on the cars and the car covers. Saint Bernards actually drool when they drink.

BTW, bet you didn't know that dog drool, if left on paint, will etch the clearcoat.....

Mastiff,

You got me thinking... perhaps you could start a trend by adding garage specs to one's signature!
