the 997 tt is in a different league than the 360...i owned a 360 spider...beautiful car but lacked torque to throw you back in your seat...the engine didnt pull well until you reached at least 5500prm.....the 997 s is closer to an enzo if term of performance than a 360...as the previous writter said, a 430 would be closer match but the 970 tt will still win with its performance...but the ferrari is more visceral and more fun to drive and be seen in..you become an intant rock star in a ferrari, whereas the porsches are relatively invisible....but the ferrari , although they are very well made now, are still toys vs porsches , which can be daily drivers....

IMHO all used 8 cylinders Ferraris cars in the US should not be considered.
They carry a ridiculous premium which you will never get back unless you buy a new one at MSRP, something impossible without very long relationship with a dealer (to keep it polite).
On the other end, Gallardo vs 997TT is an interesting comparaison and a very tough choice for a weekend car.

Anyone with interest in an Italian but looking for a daily driver should look at the Maserati Gran Sport.
a) 400 HP + 400 lbs tq (the way HP and torque is calibrated, this car can definitely snap your neck back). It's got the same F430 engine, just tuned differently.
b) priced well below an F430, in line with a 360 and cheaper than a 997TT
c) reliable, service is reasonable and manageable (you don't have to slide into it)
d) rock star appeal: there's very few around and mine gets the same amount if not more attention than my boss's F430. Anyone who likes Porsche lines will love this car.
downside: F1 transmission only. This is my first paddle shift and was novel at the beginning but now I find it a little unexciting.

1. The 360 is a civilized race car exotic, whereas the 997TT is and can be used as a daily driver. I agree
2. The 997TT is a significantly better overall value in terms of price and performance (see below).I agree but I doubt that $$$ is the case in this place
3. The 360 offers a 3 yrs. warranty; the 997TT 4 yrs. Porsche offers factory extended warranty if someone wants to continue..(I do not know about F)
4. Ferrari has roughly 35 dealers nationwide; Porsche has +200 if you need service away from home.I do not think it matters that much since a service in general is planned days before...
5. 997TT outperforms the 360 Modena in 0-60mph, 0-100mph, and top speed. even 996TT outperforms 360
6. 997TT boasts higher horsepower, and higher torque, at a more usable rev range than the 360.Correct and it will be consupt less fuel as well (wich for every day use $$$ do matter)
7. 997TT has AWD and PASM, making it even safer in nasty road conditions than the mid-engine 360.( i think 360 has similar safety features -Of course not AWD)
8. The gorgeous (but dated wedge shape) body of the 360 has a mediocre drag coefficient compared to the 997TT's timeless, classic body style. (.335 vs. .31) 2000 Vs 2006 are not comparables
9. The Modena is equipped with dual front-air bags and manual seatbelts; the 997TT has more safety features, including side air bags.correct...even 996TT had-has side airbags 2000 Vs 2000 in this case
10. The Modena's interior is spartan and austere, and its steering wheel blocks the visibility of the guages. It is a Ferrari - It has its own charactere
11. Though the Modena is wider, longer, and has a longer wheelbase than the 997TT, it provides the driver less interior and cargo space than the Porsche.correct
12. I have always wanted a Porsche. me too!!!
So that's why I chose the 997TT
so that's why I chose 996TT and of course if I could a 997TT
