Catastrophic coolant line failure on 997.1

Yup. Just a matter of time and environmental / operating conditions. At some point the factory glue just wears out. YMMV.
As I’ve said before, never fun writing the check but once it’s done (and cams pinned) drive it with confidence and enjoy.

I had a similar misfortune but in a different way. I had to rebuild my tiptronic transmission at 57k miles and while the engine and tranny were out I had the shop pinned my coolant pipes. I had mix recommendations about the cam pinning so didn't get them done.
The good is my coolant pinning was relatively inexpensive but the bad was I never thought I need a full tranny rebuild at 57k. The Mercedes built tiptronic was supposed to be bullet proof and can handle upward of 800 hp.
Anyone had to rebuild the tip in their turbo that soon?

No.
My sales guy when I bought new 15+ years ago showed me how to do launch control with a Tip. Left foot on brake, right foot to 4500 rpm, left foot off brake and let her fly.
Did it once and not since. Now at 120K. Wife's CLK 550 at 100K now, no rebuild.
I suspect the previous owner may have done it repeatedly, or missed maintenance

Has nothing to do with track use or heat. Its glue at the end of the day it will fail. The people that haven't had a problem will at some point plan and simple.
Now camshafts spinning I have seen this more on cars where people actually drive them and are not scared of over revs. If you drive these cars like a grandma I can see never having a camshaft issue.

Have them replace all the small rubber hoses that connect everything. cost is about 1000 dollars from Porsche but you do not want to be going back in there for a rubber hose that splits down the road.
This a very much pay once cry once kind of job

200% trust AIM. They did all my coolant issues, cams pinned , GT2 clutch/slave 2 or 3 years ago and the car has been flawless. Not sure what they are charging today but they are not inexpensive. Joe knows his **** though so no worries there.

I'd absolutely go to AIM if I lived anywhere within reason near them. Scraplife garage sent his motor out to them for all this stuff plus more. I think they did both his purple and his yellow car if I am remembering correctly.

One more thing. Camshaft position sensors. Both banks. At this point they are close to 17 years old.
they should be replacing camshaft actuators if you are pinning cams.
