Warranty or not

Warranty or not
Buying a 997.2 turbo s with impeccable service history from a Porsche dealer. Was offered hitech? Warranty 3 years 36k for 9k. Should I go for it? Car currently has 34k and was recently serviced with pdk flush, oil change, new tires cv boots and drive shaft. I don’t plan to drive more than 3k a year and feel this will be a car that I will keep for more than 10 years.

They told me it was not eligible due to age. It’s this car. https://www.porschecoloradosprings.c...co-id-55276337

The price sounds high. Check Fidelity sold through one of the dealers this board likes. In 2019 I bought a 6year 72k mile warranty for a 2009 turbo for a little over $6000. My warranty has more than paid me back(pinned lines, water pump, cv joints) and has over 2 years to go. The car is very reliable.

I wouldn't do it and I'm a huge fan of warranties. These cars are very reliable and outside of PDK failure, you likely won't get your money back from it. If you said the warranty was $4-5k, I'd maybe consider it for the peace of mind alone.

1. Carfax damage, it says minor but will be good to get details.
2. Swapped to steel rotors with only 34k miles...the PCCBs should last much more than that unless the car was tracked
Maybe that's why the car was not CPOed? it's still eligible since it's under 13 years unless Porsche changed their CPO policy.

car is bullet proof one of the best, if not THE BEST ever made by Porsche
that said, repairs are generally quite pricey
get a reasonably priced CPO if you want peace of mind
otherwise if the car is clean and has a good service history I wouldn't be worried not getting one

I got my Fidelity Gold from @SteingoldVolvoCars who is on here...he might have discounts for Rennlist members. Like I mentioned earlier I would do a deeper look into the car....it's a nice config but it does have an accident history plus PCCBs removed at low miles.

In December 2023, I bought a 2009 997 Turbo 6-speed from a Porsche Dealer. Car had 52k miles. They sold me an EasyCare TotalCare warranty. 3 years, 36k miles. Price was $3,995 with a $500 deductible. I have already had to use it to replace a faulty fuel ventilation value. Cost was $1,450 and warranty covered it (less the $500). No issues. Certainly hasn't paid for itself yet, but good first experience and nice to know that if I need to pin the camshafts or coolant lines (engine drop), this would be covered. My goal was peace of mind to cover any big problems over the first few years of ownership. So far, so good.
