Default Excessive Oil in Turbo Inlet (picture)

I’ve got a 997.2 TT that had some smoke on startup. Noticed that the bumper on the passengers side has some oil residue on it from the exhaust.

I pulled the turbo hose off a few months back and collected about 1/2 to 3/4 cup of oil. Not sure what the issue being, I cleaned it up and drove the car some more.

I noticed the same issue again today so did the same procedure and maybe 1/2 cup came out.

Any idea what it could be? The oil fill is well below the top hash mark. See picture for reference.

The car is modded. It has 3 inch catless exhaust, AWE intercoolers, AWE headers, BME filter, IPD y-pipe and plenum. The tune was done by Sam at ByDesignAuto.

No CELs on at the moment. I’m stumped. At first I thought it was blow by but this seems very excessive.

Possible too much oil in car. AOS? Check oil level and oil level sensor. Do not overfill. Middle of gauge is where you want to be.

It’s not overfilled. I think it’s the AOS. New one has been ordered.

did you replaced the Y pipe before it ?

than its a problem with your AOS ... check out the connection if the reduction is inside (there must be only a small hole like stock)

had this problem as well ... with DO88 .. the forgot to reduce it

Can you explain some more. I want to understand what you mean by “check out the connection if the reduction is inside.”

Is there any play in the compressor wheel? 37k miles is pretty low but it could be a leaky turbo?

one the Y Pipe there are connections on the right side which go to the AOS Seperator (right side if you stand before the car )
there are connected hoses on the right side the big on the top which goes to your driverter valve . and you need to check the small one which goes to the AOS

Sorry i was writing with my phone check out ..

one of these connections need a reducer (like a little needle ) in it check it out pls if they maybe forgot it ! Do you have the stock Y pipe ? You can see it very good in there !

If the reduction is not inside its normal that you have oil all over in your Intercoolers .. becouse the crankhouse pressure is to high

That makes more sense now. I have the IPD y pipe so I’m not sure if I have the needle or not. Do you have a picture of what the needle looks like so I can compare?

Turns out my AOS was bad. If you are collecting oil in your inlet pipes, you may want to replace the AOS.
