Default 997 Turbo wont start

I wanted to drive, but the 997 turbo only made Klack, when i tried to start.

Tried it several times, and only Klack came.

I took readings with piwis, and couldnt find an issue.

In Piwis i can see that both switches are engaged when i press the clutch pedal fully.

After 30min and various tries, i removed the key, but it back in and then the car started.

Luckily i do not drove, as 1 minute later it wouldnt start, just the same noise when i try to start Klack and nothing happens.

What can i do to diagnose if it is the starter or the ignition switcht or does anybody have another idea?

I had this issue 2 or 3 times in the last months, that on the first try the car did nothing, but when i tried it again, it worked

Is your battery voltage fine? That sounds like the starter trying to turn the motor over but only just extending the bendex ie the klack.

Yes, i put a ctek on and it was on step 4, after a few minutes.

For the Piwis i also put on the ctek, and radio, climate etc. everything runs fine

Maybe the power distributor pin is corroded and needs to be replaced?

I believe this is a known thing with these cars.

I had the same issue this summer and replacing the pin fixed the issue for me. Starts easily every time now.

which pin do you mean?

As written i got it to start after 10 or more tries.

When a cable is corroded, it should be permanent?

The car only has 50k and never been driven in winter, and only a few times in rain

This might help regarding the pin that I mentioned. It's a TSB from Porsche on the topic.

https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/20...17454-9999.pdf

My car only has 25,000 miles on it and never sees rain/snow/cold and I had the issue.

Hope that helps.

I believe it is under the battery on the firewall and towards the passenger side based on my research. Can't say for certain since I'm not the one who swapped it out on my car.

Hope that helps.

Today i replaced the ignition switcht and i had the same problem, so this was not the fault.

After 4-5 tries the car started and i let it ran for a few minutes.

After that i tried to start it again and it started like always.

I will try it again after one day, but i do not think it self healed.

It would be great if anybody can help me on how to test if it is the starter, as the swap seems to be a bit awful with big hands

How old is the battery....my first thought is electrical related. I know you have it on a tender but maybe it needs a new battery and relatively cheap to just replace if it was still an oem unit.

No, battery is about 3 years old and in winter it is on a ctek and in summer also every 2months as i drive not that much.

But when the battery is dead normally the dash, radio, interior light, climate etc. wont work.

In my case everything works fine, except that i can year a Klack noise when i want to start and nothing happens.

Yesterday i plugged two 997 on the cteks, the other was full on the evening, but the 997 turbo not - only on point 4.

But it started like always without any problems.

I plugged in a battery tester:

Amazon Amazon

It said 3 times battery is good and one time battery needs to be replaced.

So maybe i should try loading the battery again if it gets full or buy a new one before i change the starter?

I use a Banner P8820 that is only 5 years old - the same battery as in the other 997

After one week i tried to start and it didnt start.

I hear klack and thats it.

The battery has 12,4v, so that should be enough for starting.
