Default Decided on new CL Wheels and they arrived. WOW they are wide

So I have been looking for another set of CL wheels to put a friendlier Street tire on the car. I was running Toyo Proxxes and as all have said, they stick like glue but wear fast on the street and are NOISY. Well the masses are correct so I now have a new set with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup2s on them ( anyone have experience with these? Good choice or will I be buying a 3rd set ) I went with OZ racing wheels (very light) with Matte Graphite Grey to get allitle contrast out of my Blacked out 997. They change color with light but the stacked side photo is more representative than the face picture. The rears are WIDE. I hope my math worked.
Front:
-245/35ZR19 Tire
-9X19
-ET53

Rear:
-325/30ZR19 Tire
-12x19
-ET63
Now to do my radiators, front bumper mesh and swap out the wheels. More pics to come. - Cheers Mike

love the matte graphite grey - post some pics when you have them on. I want to powder coat my wheels to subdue the crhome look and haven't settled on a color.

those rear tires look really wide ! i compared my stock 305's to the 325's and the difference is about 3/4" - not too much wider but i'm sure you can see it on the car.

i found similarly spec'd wheels which i believe were meant for gt3:
8.5 X 19 ET 53
12 x 19 ET 63

i don't think the front would be an issue with TT, i believe that spec is identical to TT OE front.
but would the rear have enough clearance for the strut? cuz according to willtheyfit that ET at 12" width will be 24.7mm closer inward.
CL, so can't use spacers.

<CLICK> this thread indicates by members that the gt3 (non RS) rear offset at 12"width will not work with TT😩.
can anyone else confirm?

@notthd did that rear wheel fit ok, no issues hitting strut?

I had 325's on BBS 12" +45 rears on my 997TT which I believe is identical to 997 GT2 fitment.

+63 rear offset is not the correct offset for the wide body 997. It is going to be VERY close to contacting the spring on the inside, especially with tall & fat 325 rubber on them. Wonder if OP will report back on whether they fit OK. The photo in his first post shows rear wheels currently installed that also don't appear to be the correct offset for the Turbo / wide body 997.

IIRC, offsets on the rear should be closer to ET45-50mm for 997 TT's
I had 19 X 12 Champions RS98's with ET45 and they needed a bit of negative camber to tuck in the rear wheel wells.

Good point. OP, there is a thread on 6speed you might want to check out. It’s about the GT3 RS vs GT3 wheels, but the offsets of yours are same as the non-RS rear they discuss. There is a mention of being able to salvage it with different rear LCAs. I have the RS wheels and same size tires as you and they fit fine.

Hey guys mounted the tires while on stands and the sizes and offsets work. Fits perfect. Noticed the gaps in the racing tires and wheels offset vs. new OZs were about 3/4" different in gap to fender. None of the suspension rubs. I will take some pics both in the wheel wells and potential rub spots - to appease resident nay sayers. Will post some pics of them mounted.

Cheers Mike

that's great to hear!👍 and yes, photos would be great as well as your driving experiences with the new set, confirm that nothing in fact rubs on suspension whilst in motion.
congrats!

Coming back on line this week been out of commission all month. I had a motorcycle accident and traumatic brain injury but are recovering quickly. A gift from GOD for sure. Should make full recovery with no long term effects. There is an art called crashing smartly on 2 wheels or in 4.

New wheels are on the car but I have to complete the radiator swaps before taking her out (not to mention being released from Neurology to drive) but have high hopes to be on release this week.

Hope all is well all - Cheers Mike
