Question 997Turbo TPMS

Hi Guys,

I bought my car a few years ago and everything is fine, I took the car for a known and formal Porsche service center and checked to fine a few codes due to bulb replacements with cheap LED bulbs, I agreed with the old owner that the deal will include all original parts that he upgraded and he did and all is well until this a couple of weeks ago my brother needed to borrow the rear tires that were on the original set of wheels for a week until he gets his new set that wasn't available in the shop that we're dealing with, the wheels were dropped in my house a week later my brother came to pick up the tires to reinstall the tires back and while giving him the wheels I noticed the TPMS sensors, I thought that the vehicle didn't have the option but then I recalled that a near to 2 years ago I left the car without use for almost 4 months and forgot to connect it to the trickle charger and when I connected a new battery all warning lights and warnings was on including the TPMS in the center display in the dashboard and after a few minutes of driving the car everything went back to normal ..

Now, after the discovery of the TPMS sensors on the wheels, it seems that I had the option but something is wrong with it, either the sensors are bad or a module or other thing I'm not familiar with ..

I can start with the sensors, as I think the old ones are already dead "I think"

What you suggest to start with in solving this issue ? any suggestion ?

Tpms are not connected to car battery so trickle chargING doesn't matter. Usually a set of factory Tpms are good for 5 - 10 yrs depending on the mile's driven. If you are over 50k miles then it is likely the Tpms batteries are dead. You can take to P-dealer and they can check remaining battery life. Some do it as a courtesy others charge. Also indy shops can check it also.

Please ask your question more directly.
I could not follow your story very well.

What does, " .......took the car for a known and formal Porsche service center and checked to fine a few codes due to bulb replacements with cheap LED bulbs, I agreed with the old owner that the deal will include all original parts that he upgraded and he did and all is well.........." have to do with TPMS sensor issue?

Just the facts please.

+1 here,

Also, you will more than likely need sensors, and there are some good quality AM sensors that will serve you very well, for a fraction of OEM.

Hi goin2drt, thanks for the reply ...

It turns out that the previous owner had disabled the TPMS on the car
I found an old sensor from on the old wheels , the part number is 997.606.023.00 , it is superseded with 997.606.023.01 and the frequency is 315MHz ..
Porsche price is almost $ 230 each !!
Does anyone knows a good quality & reasonable priced aftermarket replacement and can ship to internationally ?

You can buy a set of 4 aftmkt sensors on eBay for $140. The ones with dual frequencies that are for 315 and I think 433 mhz work fine. No need to get oem pn for your car.

Do you have a 997.1 or 997.2 Turbo?

.2 is an RDE011 which is also the same as RDE008 or UVS2000. https://www.ebay.com/itm/254501612409 You can also get Huf programmable for this model. PM me for info
.1 is an RDE001. Sadly these are more expensive and you can only use an RDE001 or a Porsche sensor from them. The RDE001 is the same sensor just without the logo and they are cheaper although not cheap. https://www.ebay.com/itm/254592881508

Hope that helps.

I purchased and use these, they work fine on my 2007 997.1tt. They have dual frequency transmitter so compatible with both a 997.1 and a 997.2 911. The ad says Boxster but works fine on 997 911's. If you're not hung up on "oem", these are fine for both 315MHZ & 433MHZ.

Yep those will work but you can get a German made Huf sensor for basically the same price as that off brand sensor. Plenty of dual frequency chinese brands out there that will work;Autel, Alligator, Hamaton and the list goes on.
