Thanks for all the input guys. I’m pretty sure I’m going to go with the AMS Alphas. Even though the RS/turbo S intercoolers would suit my needs more than fine, I think I would rather go with an aftermarket solution. I don’t plan on tuning the bejesus out of my Mezger, but I do like the idea of having some overhead with a conservative tune paired with solid hardware. The car already has a Sachs stage 2 clutch and GT2 dual mass flywheel, GT2 slave conversion, Free flowing cat deleted exhaust, and I pinned the cams and coolant pipes two months ago along with a major service and tune up. I think with some intercoolers it should make for a stout street setup.

I have gone down the gt2 to big IC path and can mirror the results. More stable performance over time (in my case over a series of 4 autocross runs). and also a bit smoother powerband, not as sharp a torque hit, which breaks loose the tires too easily. That I think is from the larger inlet/outlet and reduced restriction. You will be pleased with any of the big IC options.

With those mods on 93 octane you can make 550+ whp easily.

There are several great options out there. We love teh AMS which are on sale and we still have some stock form when we were offering more discounts as well. After logging and tuning hundreds of 997's I can tell you the AMS have been top performers. In many cases you can even see IAT's drop or stay still like teh monitor isn't working haha until finally you see it go up a degree or two. Under more aggressive conditions you will see no more than 7-10deg increases on cars making from 600-1000hp, They are great.

When I'm ready, I think I'll go with the AMS set.

Ran the OEM 997.2 ICs for many years of heavy track use on both my 3.6 and 3.8 with zero issues. On my 4.0 I use 4” Marstons.

With the 7.2s, on 100F ambient temp track days, at 620whp, the IATs would peak in the 170F range at the end of a full out 20 min track session.

With the Marstons, on 100F ambient temp track days, at 775whp, the IATs peak in the 140F range at the end of a full out 20 min track session.
