Default Help with 991.2 Steering wheel conversion

Hey Rennlisters, Jaguar owner/ porsche fanatic coming at you with some questions regarding swapping over the wheel on my buddies 997.1 Turbo 6spd over to a 991.2 GT sport wheel. To make it short and sweet we purchased a brand new 991.2 GT wheel from sunset porsche and a OEM airbag that claims fitment for 911, cayenne, macan, boxter/cayman (2016-2019) looks identical to all 991.2 airbags I've seen, today trying to instal the airbag we were not able to make it clip into the wheel. We contacted seller of airbag and he claims that rarely the white plastic tabs on the airbag pins have to be shaved for the airbag to clip in but I don't know how comfortable I feel messing with it. He claims that it should 100% fit but we don't have the part number for exact airbag he sent us. We got the vin off another buddies car (17 c2s with the GT wheel) and called champoin porsche and they provided us a part number for the airbag that fits that car, should be same airbag that should fit our wheel, this is the part number (9p1880201q5q0) When I google this an airbag for a 17 911 comes up and if I open it on ebay we get a bunch of listings for airbags that look identical to the one we purchased, even another one from the same seller, even though none of them actually show a part number. Just a serial number of sorts, out of a the few I've seen online I've seen a couple different rear serial numbers - 3087890226 18 and 3087890324 18( that's the one on the bag we have) 3087890324 17, etc Im assuming this number is based of year it was produced or maybe leather or leatherette. Any help would be greatly appreciated as we want to have the car back on the road asap, One dealer we called said the bag is 2 months out of germany but won't confirm fitment... If anyone has. black leather or leatherette 991.2 airbag that will fit our GT sport wheel please reach out, or if you have any tricks on making the bag we have fit. (561-236-6280) thanks so much guys and gals, have a great evening and stay safe.

I'm not sure why you're having trouble. The 2 silver pins (left and right) of the airbag should lock into the wheel, held in by the metal wire as shown below. Make sure nothing is blocking them.

The white plastic stoppers were too thick and would not go through the openings. took a grinder wheel to the white tabs and got it to fit. Don't know ifs a factory defect on the airbag or wheel. Never heard about this issue before and I can't imagine it was the wrong airbag because after grinding the white stoppers it fit great. Any thoughts?

Glad you got it to fit. How much did you have to shave off? I assume the airbag wiring connectors fitted fine.

Care to share some pics of the result?

do you not need to replace the steering wheel module to the 997.2 as well? if you keep your current module only the horn will work

997.613.289.91

also to get the MF to work you will need the gps adapter from paul li in china (i believe there is a group by thread i saw here)
