I'm having the same thoughts and am thinking of selling my 11 TTS. It's been sitting for three months with very limited use. My CTT is my DD and for fun I look for any excuse to drive my GT4. Although my TTS is a lot faster and more comfortable my GT4 is what Porsche used to be and clearly much more of a drivers car. JMO-

In similar situation with 997. Have 991 and 993 too. 997 turbo good though but if it’s one car has to be 991 turbo s. 997 much harder to extract the performance from. If driver misses a gear change like most of my guest/friends drivers at VMAX! RS3s and Golfs destroy 997 nowadays up the run way they’re so very fast.

One missed gear change and these moderns literally gone.

997.1 turbo manual amazing car though. Same engine as 997 GT2 and 997 GT2 RS as far as I can tell. Same pistons, conrods etc according to posts on this forum

Also raced 570s, F12, Aventador SV, Huracan Performante and 488. Same result. Will race a few more cars at VMAX 2020 and put vids up

Its interesting to see how many of us are considering getting rid of our 997 Turbos. I have been looking at 991.2TTs and will most likely pull the trigger in the near future.

I bought my 997TT about 3 years ago (I think) and put less than 400 miles on it. It sits on top of my lift and I really do not find that much desire to drive it at all clearly. It is a beautiful car to look at / detail and work on for sure.

Someone will get a super clean brand new 2007 TT once I trade it in. :-)

That was one of my only concerns with buying one now, especially at a bit of a premium for the exact one I wanted. I expect that a "flood" of these cars could hit the market in the next 18 to 24 months as people move up and as a result, prices will drop. I still feel good that my depreciation will be no where near buying a new car which is what I typically do. In the meantime, the 997.2 TTS gives me the most car for the money I wanted to spend so I will enjoy it now and then buy your next car when you upgrade again in 3 or 4 years

Unsure about the flood. I still see many more people looking than selling. And I think the 997 will become more desirable with age - they will depreciate, sure, but many people I’ve spoken to describe the experience of a 991+ to be less visceral.

Also can’t understand how you guys can own them and not drive them more often. I’ve put over 40k miles on mine in 6 years - lived every minute of it.

Indeed I love my 997.1tt and drive it most days of the week. I love the 6 speed and the overall driving experience. I know it's not as fast off the line as a PDK, but I prefer the shifting my own gears. A manual 997tt is still pretty formidable. Mine's a built 3.8L running 68mm VTG's, and it's about to go in for Xona 5764 turbos. I have an old 3.3L 930- in my view, the manual 997.1tt is the modern equivalent of that car. Not for everyone and does take some work to drive it. But it's certainly not boring or mundane.

if someone owns a .2 stick... you would absolutely be a fool to sell it now. one of a couple of hundred cars... stick.. and a porsche? Electric is coming and so what do you want to be buried in? your 991 that you can barely tell the difference between the last 8 years or do you want to have a landmark car that represents the last of a breed. Sure, the 991+ is a far superior car in every way.... but for sheer enjoyment of ownership of something special, you can't fault a 997. Everyone is talking about performance... well, don't buy a turbo, go and buy a cayman GT4. At least you can feel the performance on the road.

Agree 100% with your Cayman GT4 comment. And I wouldn't invest in the new 718 GT4, the 981 GT4 is a much better car (JMO but based upon ownership)

bought mine in 2011 paid 70k cash. 4 years in, the coolant issues began. Dropped engine and corrected everything. A year ago I would smell coolant from the front. Found flat “O” rings and I replaced them. So far, no issues anywhere else. I won’t by another modern Porsche. Keeping the one I have and hopefully getting an air cooled again later in life. Don’t want anything that does not have a clutch. PDK is not for me.

I have 4 Porsches which is great but also a lot to handle. If I were to drop a car, it would probably be my 997 turbo. However, everytime I drive the car it puts a smile on my face. The torque, leather cabin, performance. All amazing. Love the car. They just don't make them like that anymore.

The 997.1 turbo 6 speed manual is a blast to drive and a great car with a couple of mods While I haven’t driven one I’m sure a pdk .2 turbo is a great car, especially if you like launching or sit in traffic a lot. The GT4 is a great car. They are all great cars. How someone can own one of the above and not drive it is beyond me. Enough said.

Shame not to use them. Since taking delivery from factory 93000 miles in 13 years on cold, muddy and wet roads like this - newer cars much bigger too which in UK a real issue look how small typical b roads are

I really like the 992 styling but always see them on the back of a flat bed? One or two a week? I think there might be a technical issue so something to bare in mind if going 997 to 992.

They have ruined the car. We have seen this before going from the 993 to 996 comes to mind.

I think everything after 993 is inferior as a 911 but they're compromised, visceral and raw....had 3.2 Carrera G50, 964 C2 and now 993 9m RS - fun in a way no water-cooled 911 can be IMO (Yellow and Black 993 not mine belong to a friend) Black Snake is the 993 RS twin turbo in the last pic is known held the production car Ring lap record in 1998. Just look at them and built like a fine Swiss watch! We use the 997 and 991 for touring when we need bit of comfort. Adding an air cooled instead of selling the 997 not a bad plan. First world problems

maybe you guys who aren't driving your TT should make a point to pull it out and DD it for a week? report back next week and then let's see the response.

Of everyone who has popped up here talking about selling your car... How many of you have a DSC module installed? Because I just don't get it... I would daily drive my TT manual everyday if I could (just not a lot of fun in NYC) My daily driver is an E63s wagon...I have to admit that I really didn't enjoy the car as much until I installed the DSC.. it was like night and day (the COBB didn't hurt either!)
