It's not the N rating. It's the NEW rating. Enjoy!!

What were the old non-N tires?

This. New Michelin PS4’s over old tires make a huge difference irrespective of whether it is “N rated” or not. Particularly if your old tires are run flats.

Not sure I follow you. Are you saying N rated tires have more sidewall flex and as such are more comfortable? Comfort has never been a variable I have associated with N rated tires.

@Carlos4S No squirm or slippery sensation from the new tires and release agent?

Did your 993 have stock suspension or something like PSS9s?

Great topic. So I recently went NON n-rated on my 9 year old Porsche. The original n-rated tire was Continental SportContact 3’s (I think they are up to 6 now). The SportContact 3’s have since been discontinued. I understand the n-rated tires go through rigorous tests and standards but there is no way in an EVER EVOLVING business of tire evolution that a new tire technology is not better in almost every way. Particularly in my instance of nearly 10 year old technology. I am very open to explanation if I am wrong as to let’s say how new non n-rated PS4’s are not superior for example.

You're not wrong. It's like "Porsche Approved" on an oil bottle. Just because it has a special stamp does not invalidate other oils. Same with the N rating...
