997TT for 964TT?

I would probably only drive it on the weekend. I have an hour commute to work. This is my current car.
This is the car I'm looking at.

Lots of questionable aesthetic choices in the mod department, but you don't often see 964 Turbos under $100k anymore (how crazy is that??) so beggars can't be choosers in that bracket. Looks like a great candidate for a weekend car you won't have to worry about actually driving around in, but I'd be hard pressed to live with those seats and gauges.

exactly.... anyone in the know would simply be thinking how much it would be to take it back to stock... go buy yourself a GT4 and not look back.

I've owned both. 997, as stated before, is a do everything, go anywhere car. A bit sterile, though. The 964 certainly has more character. Turbo lag is hilarious. That being said, it's not particularly fast. Steering is heavier (not a bad thing, per se) and the G50 box, while better than its predecessor, is obviously a lot more clunky than the 997TT. Gears are long and sometimes wished it had a 6th gear (actually unwittingly tried shifting down and to the right once). Be prepared for quirks. Mine didn't have any leaks but did have a 'weep' which would leave a spot of oil on garage floor if it sat. Aesthetically, the 964 wins hands down. But for me, I ended up looking at it more than driving it, so I sold it to another member here who will enjoy it more than I. I highly recommend you get a little seat time before making the jump. Porsche enthusiasts should all experience an aircooled car, but it's not for everyone.
like bonehead I’ve owned several aircooled turbos, I’d highly recommend seat time, and be prepared to do your own work or you’ll go broke in a hurry.
cool yes, fast not
bank 30k for the eventual rebuild, ppi from an aircooled shop is key, can quickly become a money pit if you’re not careful. As Kevin said ez69, google it.

Having owned both, I can say I miss my 94 3.6T at times. I had mine modified with 535whp, so it was scary fast. That being said, it was appreciating so fast I stopped driving it much. Also hard to find folks to do quality work on them. The one I never should have sold was my 93 RS America... The modern TT's are incredible cars and so easy to enjoy.
