2007 CPO TT just popped up on Porsche PreOwned
Looks like a very good deal...19k miles, CPO and $65k. Shouldn't last long.

Not sure how a 2007 can still be CPO.

Unfortunately they won't. I just picked up a '15 Turbo S and asked a few different dealers about how to do this. The dealership has to own the car in order to certify it so technically if you trade it in right now they can certify it for the next person. The only option for me is to get a 3rd party warranty, I'm not sure if the 3rd party warranties will cover a 997 or not.

Last year, before purchasing my car, its owner took it to a P dealer and ask them to do whatever it needs as if they were certifying it. $5K later, I ended up with a car that hopefully doesn't require much.
Since it is not a daily driver (I only put 200 miles on it), I have opted out not to buy a warranty.
My plan is to pin the coolant lines and continue to keep it as a garage queen. It would of been nice if it was really certified though ;(

So this is wrong gents. It all depends on the dealership. Leith Porsche in NC had agreed to CPO'ing the car for me. Basically they buy it, CPO it for approx. $2500, then sell it back to you.

Perhaps a bit shady, but a really cooperative dealer might take your car in trade towards a car purchase, which just happens to be your very own car sold back to you at a ~$3,000 higher price due to the CPO...
In my state and most others with sales tax, if you trade in you pay the difference in sales tax, not the purchase price of the purchased car. At my 7% sales tax and a more typical $3,000 CPO fee, that would be $3,210, plus the $700 dealer "delivery and handling" bs fee they put on all sales, but still a reasonable under $4,000 with taxes and fees.
Assuming of course that they didn't need to do anything (tires, brakes, wipers, service) etc. to bring it up to CPO compliance, which I'm sure they would want to pass on as well.
