Default do88 Bigpack for Porsche 997.1 + 997.2 Turbo

We believe this complete intercooler kit needs little introduction. It has proved very well over these 2 years that we have offered it. Our latest addition to this cooling series is the plenum for gen. 2 - see it below.

We are happy to present to the Rennlist forum members, our complete performance charge air, high flowing and great cooling solution for Porsche 997.1 and .2 Turbo!

The engineers at Porsche are no pinfeathers. They know. Developing anything better than what they have already come up with is no walk in the park. Many claim that they are better, but are failing to show any data supporting their statements. All data you can read and display, gathered by us, on our site or in forums, are true and valid. We don´t mess around. What you see is what you get. And what you get is something that will in fact outperform the 997.2 OEM unit.

This set comes at a package price and includes both our motorsport grade intercooler package and high flow Y-pipe with all hoses and accessories for installation. To furthermore enable for a better breathing engine our highly appreciated inlet ducts can be purchase alongside these products, for both .1 and .2 cars.

The intercooler kit and the y-pipe are great products alone. Used together they generate a great inlet temperature reduction, less backpressure of the whole system and thereby enabling more power.

Significant advantages with do88 BigPack (OEM intercooler/pipes):
- Post intercooler air temperature at the same conditions: 100° F vs 126° F, do88 26°lower! See diagram below!
- Top quality, high density UK-made motorsport cores.
- 3D freeform designed cast end tanks.
- Custom designed carbon fiber ambient air guides.
- Assembly air flow at 0,175bar/2,54psi pressure drop: 646CFM (564CFM), do88 15% higher! See diagram below!
- Y-pipe made of 70mm mandrel bent aluminum pipes.
- Y-pipe cast, smooth flowing collector part.
- Comes with high quality silicone hoses and accessories for installation.

About the intercoolers:

After our market research in the beginning of our intercooler development for 997 generation 2 we understood that not many of the upgrade products on the market are really upgrades but more at the same level as the 997.2 standard intercoolers or sometimes even lower. So already from the beginning we realized that we could not sacrifice anything to keep the cost down we just had to do the best possible in the space available in the car! First of all we made a lot of investigation and comparisons between different core types and at last really fell for a high density motorsport core which have great cooling efficiency among with a low weight. With a great core in place we started to refine the end tank design which brought us to a decision to make cast end tanks as we could then control the air flow distribution over the core in a very precise way. This is very important as a good tank design will be beneficial for both pressure drop and cooling efficiency. To be able to fit an intercooler with appropriate thickness for the job it was also necessary to design a new upper ambient air guide. This was designed in our 3D scanned environment to ensure perfect fit to the vehicle integrated air guides and our intercooler. To achieve the best air flow distribution over the core we made intercooler end tanks with 70 mm (2 3/4 inch) connections which then made it necessary to designed custom silicone hoses for all positions. The hoses are 3D designed with airflow in mind where we CFD tested each hose during development to ensure best possible flow rate of all parts! The hoses between turbocharger and intercooler are special silicone hoses that can withstand up to 240°C (464°F) continuous temperature! Another important aspect for cooling performance is to use all ambient cooling air available, to optimize this part we include air block rubber seals for all surfaces where the ambient air guides must seal properly.

With this way to build our intercoolers the weight increase compared to the OEM ones was relatively small considering the size of our intercooler and that its all made of aluminium. Our intercooler weight is 5,85 kg (12,89 lb) per piece and the 997.2 OEM intercooler weights 3,30 kg (7,27 lb) per piece. It might sound like a big weight increase but compared to other actors on the market with intercoolers in this size it's a low weight!

About the Y-pipe:

In the beginning of the development process of this product we spent a lot of time thinking what would be the preferred way to build a Y-pipe and here is the result of our conclusions and development process! Our pipe have both a very good flow rate and a low weight which is accommodated by composing mandrel bent lightweight pipes with a high quality 3D freeform designed cast joint between them. Onto the cast part we then welded CNC-machined connections for bov and breather hoses.
This construction adds a lot of performance but only a tad of extra weight. do88 Performance Y-pipe weight 1,52 kg (3,35 lb) OEM plastic pipe weight 1,38 kg (3,04 lb) and competitor cast performance pipe weight 2,76kg (6,08 lb)!

The pipes are then finished in a high quality powder coat that makes them look as good as they perform! You can choose between the more discrete semi gloss black and a fresh silver metallic finish.

Performance:

When it's down to performance our BigPack give a great reduction of intake temperature compared to the OEM 997.2 intercoolers and Y-pipe! Please have a look in the graph below where we show data from our AIM racelogger recorded at 5 full throttle accelerations done in a immediate sequence without any cooldown between 40-260 km/h (25-162 mph) in a Stage 1 tuned Porsche 997.2 Turbo PDK. In all tests the car was driven in Sport Plus, automatic gear change and AC off. First we made 5 runs with the car equipped with OEM intercooler and y-pipe then we switched to do88 performance intercoolers and y-pipe and drove car for a while then we made 5 runs exactly the same as with the OEM parts. The temperatures are significant lower with our intercoolers which is visible in the graph below!

At the same time as our BigPack lowers the intake temperature it also flows better than the 997.2 original intercoolers! Please have a look at the air flow rates at different pressure drops in the graph below where we compared our BigPack to the original intercooler and Y-pipe in our own Superflow SF-1020 Probench to verify the final result!

From our five in a row full throttle accelerations between 40-260 km/h (25-162 mph) we have very reliable and repetitive test data for the range 50-250 km/h (31-155 mph). When analyzing the numbers, we found that in average we cut down the acceleration time for 50-250 km/h (31-155 mph) by 3 seconds compared to the OEM intercooler and y-pipe! No software programming or adaption reset was done in between the tests.

The price is 3299 USD excluding the inlet ducts.
The Y-pipe comes in silver or black.
The products can be purchased separately as well. Press any of the pictures to get to the product!

So, for anyone reading this thread. Apparently there´s something called Black Friday that vendors seem to take part of. It has made its way over that little pond to Sweden. We always thought Brown Tuesday had a better ring to it, but who are we to judge? Anyway, for anyone interested in some proper cooling goodies we will have a massive SALE this weekend, starting Friday. 18 % discount on bloody everything. It will not get any cheaper than this so make sure to get advantage of this offer now! #BrownTuesday #BlackFriday

How do these compare to the AMS 997.1 Kit? My tuner, who is fairly well known on this page, recommended their product. Just wondering if anyone can chime on on the do88 BigPack vs the similar AMS kit.

We have not done any comparisons of this ourselves, and it´s not our thing to convince you or say this and that. AMS do offer a good alternative as well. Bare in mind that they are using a Bar & Plate core whereas we are using a Tube & Fin core. Both have their pros and cons but as there´s end plates on a Bar & Plate core, the effective volume is affected meaning that their 5,5" core is close to the same as our 5 " core, as far as volume go. That is a factor you can lay aside if you want "the biggest and best". They don´t seem to present any graphs or data either which I myself would like to see before spending a good 3k.

We are not here to pick on anyone else but if anyone has any specific questions I am glad to answer. Otherwise I am sure there are others here that can talk for both alternatives.

I hope that wasn't taken negatively, I was simply looking for real world data and opinions from other people on the forums. I have dealt with you guys in regards to the inlet pipes and absolutely love them so I was planning on ordering your Big Pack as well(especially if you can toss in a Military Discount), but right before I pulled the trigger on emailing you my tuner had mentioned the AMS product. Thank you for taking the time to explain the difference.

No harm done at all Josh, of course you should ask and we trust that all want to make a well informed decision. I was just pointing out the fact that we don´t have this comparison available - if we did we would let you know. It´s also a matter of how you present the facts and what is relevant, referring to the thickest core on the market thing. 800 CFM of airflow - at what pressure drop? Anyway, I am sure there are others that can chime in here.

Let me know if we can assist.
