Default New owner of a 2011 997.2 TT with wheels questions

Hello all,

I have just gotten the Porsche bug and purchased a used 997.2 TT 2011. It is a awesome piece of machinery and I have no regret in doing it. The car came with center lock wheels and I guess my question is, how do I replace the stock wheels with deep dish rims? I hate the stock wheel look and want to fill that last 1" on the rear fender and have a bit more of a "flash". Also, is it recommended to install after market car alarms? I am sorry for these questions and I am thankful for any help.

Haven't heard of anyone installing an after market alarm.

As far as wheels go, all the usual manufacturers have options for Centre Locks - BBS, HRE, Champion, but there are other vendors out there as well such as Strasse Wheels and Brixton Forged.

You’ll most likely need to have a set of centerlocks made to your specifications. That’s what I did for my 991 with centerlocks. There are many manufacturers, as mentioned above. You may be able to find an existing centerlock design that you like, but it sounds like you have very specific requirements in terms of design and offset.

Why the need for an aftermarket alarm system? Your car has an alarm as standard equipment.

Look on eBay or the forum for a used set. New, the wheels are incredibly expensive and not a good value.

Dont install an aftermarket alarm, the car’s current alarm is perfectly fine. I haven’t heard of someone installing an aftermarket alarm since the 90’s.

Look into ecu tunes (Sam at by design) and exhausts (my personal preference is Kline for street use). Those are your best bang for the buck.

Enjoy the car!

If you're talking about the RS Spyder style wheels, those are one of the nicest style wheels Porsche has ever made imo. And they're 19s so lighter weight than replacing with bigger wheels to fill the gap. Maybe consider having it lowered some instead.

Congratulations to you on your purchase. You have a lot of fun days ahead of you with that car.

A wheel manufacturer like HRE or Rotiform can build almost all of their wheel models in a centerlock configuration. I've picked out two of my personal favorites so you can see what might be possible. If you'd like further help in choosing let me know, we have an entire 997 Gallery on our website - www.WheelsBoutique.com.

I have two sets! Black and Silver, when I get bored just swap. Feels like a new car.

Don't mess with an aftermarket alarm. Bad things happen when you tap into the electrical system on these cars if your not installer is not really, really good!

I went with OEM GT2RS wheels. They're wider than the RS Spyder centerlock wheels so they properly fill out the wheelwells, plus you get to keep the OEM look...a more aggressive OEM look.

This shows how they fill out the wheelwells. They're wider than the RS Spyder wheels so you'll want larger tires (245 & 325).
I also attached a pic of my previous GMG wheels which also looked good. There are definitely options out there.
