Upgrade to Turbo or Turbo S
My wife will only let me have one garage space so unless I want to buy a larger house (and I don't - I'd rather spend it on the car) I've decided to upgrade my 997.2 C4S to a Turbo or Turbo S. My decision will probably come down more to color, condition and mileage over the difference between Turbo and S but is there any strong reason to pay more for the S? The delta on 997.2s between base and S is about $10k - is this the same for Turbos? Thanks.

I wouldn't let it be much of a factor, S includes PCCB and some other things that were options on the non-S. A non-S can be tuned to S-levels very easily. Color, condition, and price should be the decision makers.

I'll be more selective this time too. Looking is almost more fun than having. (that's been the case with women most of my life too....)

Coming from a 991 Turbo S myself, the short answer is no. Color and options will be more important but you are likely to find more S models that have the options you want since they came with more items as standard... unless you have to have a manual in which case the S is out.

OMG, I'd suggest getting the S!!! You only live once, go for the best. What the heck, right? 530 HP is just cool to have even though you'd never really need it at all. And, because... of this. The rear badging on the "S" is just gorgeous....

Manual v. PDk. I cross shopped, and ended up pulling trigger on b3st car I found. Which was a 2008 manual. Good cars sells fast.

I couldn't agree more with Mr. Mezgr TT. You can tune for the extra hp. You will pay another 5 figures for the S as well. So the answer is, it depends. If the added $ is a non issue, then shop for both S and non-S. You really want the exterior color, interior color and the options suite that pleases you, right? Also extremely important is the driving experience. If you have owned cars equipped with all three transmissions, then decide on which one you prefer most. I'm a huge fan of the PDK, for example. The last thing you want is to have bought the car and realized this is not the one (speaking from experience??). It seems ****, but do yourself a favor and simply write down a pro/con list, T-account style. You will be surprised how well this simple exercise will aid your search by honing in on what you seek, and flushing out the noise. Be patient. Be patient. Be patient. And good luck!

Turbo S are considerably rarer so should have a better chance of holding/increasing in value over the medium-long term. If you’ve got half an eye on resale value, then TS is a better bet IMHO.

The 997.2 Turbo produced 10,11,12,13 there were 1298 produced for US Purchase (190 Canada) total North America 1488.
The 997.2 Turbo "S" was produced 11,12,13 and there were 2190 produced for US Purchase (143 Canada) total North America 2333.
The regular Turbo is the rarer of the 2 models even though it was produced an additional year. The mix between Coupe vs Cab were about the same percentage for both models. The Turbo, however, had the 6-speed option on 488 of the 1488 units.
The extra HP is strickly tuning, There were many high optioned Turbo's produced.

488 manual coupe Turbos from 2010-2013. They will definitely be the grail cars going forward, especially as manuals die out and become more sought after. For this reason, I also don't think the TTS will hold as strong as manual 997 Turbos in the next 10 years. 991 Turbos still have room to depreciate, and when you're already giving up the manual, a 991 Turbo looks pretty good in comparison.
