Default Another DME Report

I am considering my first 997 Turbo. The PPI went well except for tires and and non stock exhaust and headers ExCEPT for this:
total hours 545.5.
Rng 1. 9420 at 543.8
Rng. 2. 2420 at 543.8
Rng.3. 387 at 543.8
Rng. 4. 76 at 543.8
Rng 5. 13 at 531.7
Rng 6. 3 at 531.7

Are the Rng. 4,5 and 6 over revs a deal breaker? Thanks

I'm guessing this car has fairly low mileage?

Only 13.8 hours since the Rng 5-6 event, and only 1.7 hours since the last Rng 4.

Seems this one has been driven in anger a bit recently. You may want to consider an aftermarket warranty if you are worried about it.. Resale may be a bit tough down the road for the "purists"..

^ Would be surprised if it doesn't /didn't have a tune as well. Cant think of many people who would put on an exhaust & headers without doing a tune.
Depending on how high the limiter was raised that may explain the 1-4s. (I have heard of at least one tune where if you run it to the limiter and bang it hard you will record a Rng 4)

Mine was supposedly "stock ECU" when I brought it from the dealer despite various mods including headers At the time it had no range 5s or 6s but some range 4s (including within recent hours of operation) - I've subsequently had it tuned with a slight elevation to the redline and I suspect it'll have more range 4s on it now.
IMHO the concern about ranges 5 and 6 should only be merited if they are closer to triple digits - I may be corrected but I was pretty sure anything less than 10 is considered an aberrant reading given it represents number of ignitions in that rpms range - 3 ignitions = 1/2 revolution of the crank right?

FWIW I used to tune Minis (r53) and the calibration and ECU frequency of reading/calc for RPMs left a lot to be desired - I expect the sensors on the mezger are higher caliber but I also suspect they are more for directional benefit to Porsche in terms of assessing and diagnosing vehicle health than as an absolute indicator of abuse/concern...

Thanks for your thoughts. My tech does not believe it currently has a tune and was not concerned with these overrevs. Ten or less overrevs are not an issue. However he he did say the motor is 50 k. He said dont pay the top dollar which the seller was asking. I wonder if I could even get a warranty with this condition. I’m torn because as the Tech said it drives like a new car and body and Interior are perfect. I’ll work on the price now because when I sell down the road I’ll get worked over. Hopefully by then I’ll have added 200 or more fun hours and put this issue to bed.
